Hi
i was discussing with few brothers yesterday here in TJ who told me that you must be filled with spirit everyday to be saved. I gave them the verse Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
but their opinion was that holy spirit can leave and we must be filled with everyday.

But today I thought about Romans chapter 8 which talks about spirit:

Rom 8:9-16 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. (13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

So what do you think, what does it mean to live and die here? And dont we always have the holy spirit as seal?

I have said many times here at t.j., that a person is saved.......as long as they stay saved.

Quoting the scripture, and knowledge of the scripture is not enough to secure eternal salvation.
Mtt 7.16. Mtt.7. 20. (Jesus)

We have to meet Jesus. He is alive and available to all who seek Him.

"Ask and it shall be given, Seek and you will find, Knock and it will be opened...........(Jesus) Speaking of Himself.

Paul met Jesus.......long before he began to teach.

I was attracted to this forum a few years ago by its title 'talk Jesus'

That is first base. In His Love.

So your saying get saved first.
that indeed is important, then you will have the spirit.

btw Mtt 7.16 is about false prophets, i dont think it applies to us if we make mistakes or something.

Are you saying here that a true "Born Again" Christian can become un-born again or loose their salvation?

And dont we always have the holy spirit as seal?
I believe scripture reveals that,yes.
You were purchased with a price and that seal makes you a future bride in a company of brides.
Once you agree to be his bride you begin to train to understand who he is and what is required of his bride.

John 15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.

So the counselor(Holy Spirit) comes when we ask believing in faith that we will receive it.It has been my experience there are no rules as to how this happens.I have seen a wide variety of experiences and most won't experience any difference at all.Nevertheless If you asked in faith you have to believe you already received it so start listening for the comforter to teach you.The Spirit "is love" and we know that perfect love casts out all fear.So listen for "love" messages. If you are experiencing fear then seek to fill up.You have not lost it you just need to refuel by being thankful and doing acts of kindness and studying and having communion with other Christians which you are doing here for sure.
Personally I know I am sealed so I continually thank God for filling me with His Spirit. If I don't feel peace then I seek to be filled.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Your thoughts are what they are talking about.Your Brain gets in the way of his message. With practice you can filter out the many voices in our brains and that's when you usually get hit with his peace, keep that going and you will hit joy.

It's our gift from God to be able to be filled,it's not a requirement unless you want to lead a victorious joy filled life.

"............be filled with the Spirit" (Eph5:18). Its my understanding that the Greek word translated as "filled" refers to the action of being filled on a regular basis so that the Spirit's influence is always maximized.

From Ephesians 4:30, I think we have the Spirit in us the moment we're saved til the moment we die... it is just a matter of utilizing Him.

I kind of think of it like God's mercy. The Bible says God's mercies are new every morning, and its up to us to claim His mercy and be filled with it every day. That's how I think of the Spirit... He is with us and in us every day, it is up to us to claim Him and be filled with Him every day. Every morning I wake up and pray for God to fill me with His Spirit.

Its not like His Spirit leaves every night, or even that He leaves if we're following the flesh. He's still there, He's always there; He's God. But, if we don't "use" Him, I think He can become dormant. We're still saved and we're still Christians, but we become carnal Christians as opposed to Spirit filled Christians.

He is alive, He is real; He is a real person in you, and it is up to us to surrender to Him and not resist Him.

Sealed until the day..

From Ephesians 4:30, I think we have the Spirit in us the moment we're saved til the moment we die... it is just a matter of utilizing Him.

This is the whole point of the topic... The Word of the Holy Spirit in accordance of being born from the Word brings to life, unto God a dead, and lost spirit... This is very clear the Work of the Word, and Holy Spirit.. We are sealed by the Spirit...

Does that mean being filled with Power on High?? Where the power of God is manifested though believers??

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

The condition to receive Power on high would be to have the right to call God your heavenly father. Even Jesus performed no Miracles until he was Baptized with the Holy Spirit, where he said this day has been fulfilled...

Or can everyone say God is their father... saved or not???

At the Jordan River:
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Luk 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luk 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

---------------------------------

If Jesus came into this World born of the Word from a virgin... having the life of God in him at birth, then later became filled with Power on High, and became anointed... Would we not also have to follow his example???? Or do we skip a step he had to do???

Jesus is Lord.

I like this Audrey,
As I read that I saw a picture of some one pushing a car(maybe out of out of Gas?).
The car is more burden than walking if there is no gas or an equipment failure.
Christianity is an enormous burden without the Joy,love, power and sound mind that walking(Driving in the car scenario) in the Spirit provides.

I like BM's entire post but I would like to focus on this part because to me it is very condensed and covers a lot of material.

Eph. 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

You were already dead when you first believed you came alive.

Eph 2:5
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions
Col 2:12 Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
Eph 2:6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus.

Hath raised means already happened,if you could lose this new life on and off you would experience multiple deaths.According to Col 2 :12 your already resurrected from the dead into life.
We will see it when we believe it and enforce it with our tongue. All others will believe it when they see it.

Born again, sealed with the Spirit, bought with a price and saved all really mean the same thing.A new life started in heaven and coming down from heaven to invade a dark world starting in our Spirit and with water and good soil eventually invading our body and then our household then our neighborhood etc....

That's why if you willingly walk away from this gift there remains no sacrifice seeing we can't re-crucify Christ.
