The Christian life is meant to be lived as a child of God, seeking the Spirit’s confirmation of God’s presence and acceptance. If you are seeking to obey God out of duty or out of fear, you have unintentionally demoted yourself from child to servant in the eyes of God.
Consider what you’re hearing in your heart today. Are you hearing that you aren’t good enough for God or that God is angry at you? If you don’t hear the Spirit’s voice calling out “Abba, Father,” Then you can rest assured that you aren’t hearing from God.
Today is an invitation to be reoriented by the Holy Spirit. Every other priority, possession, and goal in life pales in comparison to the inheritance you have been promised in Christ as an heir in God’s family.
There is an inheritance of peace and joy in God that belongs to you if you are willing to seek the Spirit’s voice in your life. Gladly accept this new identity as a beloved child of God the Father today.
Prayer: Father, help me hear the truth today about my identity as Your beloved child.
