"The LORD your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you." (Deuteronomy 7:22)
Have you read a prayer that says, "God, grant me patience, and please do it quickly!" ?
It seems God's people in the past prayed that too. The Israelites were not that patient. They could not wait for Moses to come down from his meeting with God on top of the mountain and they soon started to worship the molded calf. So, when God called them to claim the wonderful land He had for them, He reminded them that they would definitely get it and that God Himself would drive out all the obstacles before them, little by little. It's God's tender way of saying, "Be patient, have faith and trust in me." The rest of the verse shows how God had even used the existence of the other nations to shield His people from the beasts of the field.
Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Our Father drives out obstacles before us so that our path in His will is victorious and joyful. Because of our human tendency to have all of the obstacles removed at once, satan may deceive us into believing that the obstacles are going nowhere. Yet, the truth is that God faithfully drives them out before us, little by little, not all at once.
If God would drive out all obstacles at once and life became a "piece of cake" for us, we would fall prey to the beasts of self-sufficiency, pride, and self-centeredness, God, in His mercy and great love to us, has employed some obstacles to keep us humble before Him, to keep us seeking His face every morning, to remind us that we belong to Him not to this world. Our real home is in heaven, not on earth.
Friends, whatever obstacles in your life today, whether financial, health, emotional or spiritual, God's promise to you is that He will drive out these obstacles before you little by little. Wait for Him in thanksgiving and praise. He will never let you down.
