But they did not hear!
Zec 1:3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
Zec 1:4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.
Many who profess to be of Christ will emphatically say proudly that there is nothing we must do to be saved, and it’s all foolish pride for those who insist you must come to God on His terms.
All through scripture we are warned by almighty God what is required of His creation to be reconciled back to Him, but they say they can’t turn, or that if they could stop their rebellious ways then they would be saving themselves and wouldn’t need Jesus, plus a host of many more excuses why they don’t have to obey to be saved!
The Lord is very patient and merciful as many of us can confess, as I know I deserve hell fire for my foolish pride thinking I was a saved and sanctified fornicator, drunkard, idolater, immoral and full of lust, while I gave my tithe, offerings, time, talents and treasures to a church that told me every Sunday morning, I was just a poor begging sinner, telling another poor begging sinner where to find bread.
Nothing to do with real repentance, turning from my evil ways, purifying the heart through faith, and seeking the mercy of God, hoping and praying He will relent and grant me mercy and pardon, NO, that was all works, and they all know it’s NOT of works, especially work of righteousness, or simply doing what is right as commanded, because we have free will and ability to repent, stop sinning (willful rebellion) and come to God on His terms as commanded!
Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
It’s simple to understand when you come to realize you were not born a depraved sinner, and God expects you do your part in working together with Him in His great redemption process called salvation, and I pray the churches who are dead to the truth will wake up, and understand that a passive repentance and faith is no repentance or faith and leads down the dark road to destruction!
