Genesis 1:3 (CJB)
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

This is day One

Genesis 1:14-18 (CJB)
(A: ii) 14 God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs, seasons, days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the dome of the sky to give light to the earth”; and that is how it was. 16 God made the two great lights — the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night — and the stars. 17 God put them in the dome of the sky to give light to the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.

This is day four.
So the question is....Where did the light come from on the first three days....God created a light source on the forth day.....But there was light on the first day.....

Did you know? The word 'light' also translates to 'a revelation of God' So the first three days the world was lit by the glory of God...

What do you think?

What do you think?

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
John 8:12 ¶ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:6 ¶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

I think the Light = Jesus Christ = God = The Word

Jesus was the light on the first day!

God bless!

The Light was the Glory of God. It was the Power of God flowing through or hovering above.
God Bless

It's also possible it could been the stars.

I've always thought the greater light and lesser light were simply the son and moon.
But if you've ever been out away from cities and light pollution in a place were it's really dark...
It's never really totally black (unless it's really cloudy, or you're in a cave or something).
Even the stars have a enough light to cast shadows.

..just a guess...

I think you are spot on about the idea that stars can cast shadows.

Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
(I think this all occurs on the fourth day, which does not quite explain that Light God spoke of in the beginning). This is post inspiring! :)

God bless!

God made the stars in vs 14 So He made the sun the moon and stars all at the same time....Maybe
So where did the light come from before that in vs 3? LOL Some of you have it right! As I said 'Light also translates as "A Revelation of God", where God reveals Himself to creation...God is light!
