Job 5:12-14 King James Version (KJV)

12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

14 They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

Job 5:12-14 Lexham English Bible (LEB)

12 He is frustrating the devices of the crafty,
and their hands do not achieve success.
13 He is capturing the wise in their craftiness,
and the schemes of the wily are rushed.
14 In the daytime they meet with darkness,
and they grope at noon as in the night.

12-13 This is how the devil works but we have to remember that he can not do anything without the Lord allowing him to, the Lord has a greater good out of this evil. One the greatest tools of Satan are convincing us that what we want to do is good. We are not to follow after our plans but what the Lord wants from us.

14 They don’t live in the light of the Lord so they do not see what they truly are doing; they can not know how truly bad what they do until His light shines on their sins.
