Job 3:13-14 King James Version (KJV)
13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
14 With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;
Job 3:13-14 Lexham English Bible (LEB)
13 For now I would lie down, and I would be at peace; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest14 with kings and counselors of the earth,
who rebuild ruins for themselves,

13 It was thought that souls went to sleep after they died this can be supported by scripture but so can going to heaven after death for the believer. Either way if Job had died he would have not lived to go thru the suffering he was going thru at that time.
14 This is referring to soul sleep, death was looked at going to sleep, there was no belief in judgment or rewards there was no scripture at this time to teach Job any different than what he knew as we have today.
