It was really close

I stopped and looked back
took a deep sigh of relief.
Fresh memory of the fiery darts
echoing in my mind,then
said i,that was too close.

For i won my gamble with him,
i mean the vicious devil,
i thought it was a game
yet he meant my life.

worldly pleasures always free
i did not earn any but got all.
truth,he told not
fear, his chief tool,
my mind into a battle field, he turned.

Never letting me see
never letting me go
a kill he counted me
But a foe i became
when jesus found me

Then Jesus showed me
my wasted days
The squndered riches
and the immenent hell
the lost happiness and virtues

And he told me,
it was too close.
Indeed it was too close
Had calvary delayed
I would have been no more for it was too close to hell.

I think everyone needs to be reminded how close it was to destruction when christ showed up in our lives.
