ISAIAH 55: 6-7 What does the Prophet tell us?
"6 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."
When we read this verse, what is it telling us? The Prophet Isaiah was one of the major prophets who ministered to Israel. As with all prophets, God spoke his inspired word into the minds and ears of the prophets of old. God spoke to Moses "face to face," as scripture tells us, while other prophets received visions or dreams, or both. All we know is that the prophets wrote down ALL the words of God, so that the people of Israel might know God's message.
Since this is the time of year, according to the Hebrew calendar, of "soul searching, turning around, and returning to God, that is if we lost our way somehow. We all get distracted in some ways, some backslide, get into sin, and a righteous God looks down from Heaven and continues to love us and wants us to return to Him, who is the "Bridegroom." So, the "bride" is wandering off? it is time to "Seek the LORD while he may be found, and call upon him while he is near"
But there is something "conditional" in this statement: the word "while." So, if it is conditional, is there a time when the LORD CANNOT be found? or a time when He is NOT near? Interesting aspects. When a person is doing "his or her own thing," the "things of the world have him or her entrapped. A person who once was close is now far, far away from the presence of God. It may seem that way to that person, yet God is right there waiting for that person to return and ask forgiveness. When can we call upon him? While He is near? Again, He may seem to be far away and out of touch. We might say, "I'm too far gone for him to hear me," yet the opposite is true. There is no sin so bad that God can not forgive through Yeshua/Jesus, who paid for every one of our sins, past, present, and future, just like HE WAS, IS, AND WILL BE.
YET, is there really a time when the LORD will NOT be able to be found? Will there be a time when the LORD will NOT be near? YES. That will be a second after a lost person closes his or her eyes in death. If a person rejects the free gift of salvation and dies in sin, then YES, the LORD will never be found (for that person), and He will NEVER listen. The LORD will be out of reach until the time of the "Judgment," but then it will be too late. The sentence will be past, and the "Lamb of God" will be the "Lion of Judah, and the "Savior" will be the "Judge."
The LORD is NEVER so far away that He can not hear. So, if you have fallen away, call upon Him who set captives free. The King has left his palace and is in the countryside; go out to meet HIM. Returning to the LORD is open 24-7.
