Is medical Marijuana just as bad as using it to just get high?

Hi, i'm new to these forums, but this has been a puzzling question that i've been pondering lately. It seems to me that if you could cook with it and in my case, get rid of 3 different meds i take, one that i've been told that if i stop taking it i will have physical withdrawls from it that is would be a better medication. I wouldn't ever consider this while it is still illegal. I'm just really confused because it's ok to take narcotic type perscription drugs but not a natural growing plant?
My mum had to take morphine and that was for medical purposes. It has the same effect as Heroine. I think recreational drugs are an abuse of the body because they are not monitored. Prescribed drugs are a necessity for pain relief and are strictly regulated so that they are benefitting the body as opposed to harming it. However, if a drug is illegal the contents can be dubious.

Administration of drugs needs to be scientific and regulated and as Marijuana is not, taking it could be a risk to your physical health. Though your motives for usage may be logical. Until it is legalised by the health sector under prescription it cannot be a truly safe solution.

Alcohol can be used for medical purposes but can be abused.
Morphine can be used for medical purposes and can also be abused.

Marijuana can be used for medical purposes and can be abused

It is still illegal in all instances for human consumption as far as I'm aware and here lies the difference..!

That's pretty much the view i had on it, but my mother in law tells me things that are kinda confusing. She says that we as christians are to have our minds "clear" so that it's more difficult for Satin to temp us. I just had a hard time seeing any difference between perscription drugs that make you a little loopy and Marijuana. I definnatly wouldn't consider is as an alternative untill there is a good way to regulate a dosage of sorts and smoking it is also definatly out of the question, i don't think that would go well with asthma.

Balderama, opium is naturally grown also but you know what it does too right? What is natural does not mean it is ok to use in *any* way we choose but what GOD provides them for us to use. We can make guns from steel or we can make safer cars with stronger steel. You see the use of the same natural product? (sorry for the strange example)

Anyway, I had marijuana use for 4 "unclear" years. Whether I did minimal / moderate amounts or a lot in a day, I was unclear in my mind both ways. So using it medically (I'm not condeming here) will give the same effect on your mind. You will face temptation as anyone else not using it for medical purpose. Don't let the amount fool you. Sure the more you use marijuana the more unclear your mind may be, but your mind will still be fogged on smoky confusion if you use minimal amount.

Conclusion: faith in Christ Jesus who paid for our sins and gave us Healing by His blood. The healing is there. Declare it onto your life!

Faith works great no matter what your situation.

Matthew 9:22
Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Luke 18:42
Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."

Acts 14:9
He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed

Psalm 30:2
O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.

Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Matthew 4:24
News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.

Matthew 8:16
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.

Matthew 14:14
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Mark 1:34
and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

God told us to not harm our bodies with impure/unclean things and things that are addicting

1 Corinthians 6:20
you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

1 Corinthians 6:12
"Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything.

2 Peter 2:19
They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him

Look up to GOD for strength in all areas: physical, spiritual, mental, emotinal

Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength
I guess this has been a long struggle for me to try and justify me being able to use it again. I feel like if i justify being able to use it that i would be able to escape all the various health problems i have. Almost like an easy fix to not have to deal with reality. I just keep bouncing back and for from it being a justifyable drug to manage pain, or just an excape from my reality. I know God has a reason from my health being the way it is, it's just hard to look at the bigger picture when here and now is difficult.
Painful Pot

:rose: Balerama: Even to talk about pot is painful to me. I had such a marriage collapse and so much of it was due to my ex husbands pot abuse. I got a poem a day, with his creative pot induced writing, but to open up when all the doors are closed due to pot use, was impossible. My spirit almost died inside me, when I had to make the choice to leave. He was "saintly", when he was high, but conniving and horrible, if I didn't fit into our household budget, the high budget of acquiring pot. And full of blame. People that smoke pot, seem to never ever let go of even the slightest infraction. So I chose to be a single mom and poor and I am poor and the amount of money he spends on his children, when he makes more than twice as much as me, is so demeaning to myself and the kids. Something inside a pot smoker's psyche, goads them into blame and inwardly thinking all is perfect within them. I have never ever felt so close to death, as I did being with Rudi. He still confuses me so much, garnering respect for me, because he is the father of my children. I am afraid to speak out to him, because he always knows how to lambast me. Honestly, long term pot use just totals a brain and from my experience, keeps God away from them. This is the most painful subject of my whole life, because when I met Rudi, I prayed to my Father that I would find him blamess. But guess what, with his pot use he had plenty of blame, not that he knew about though and poor me loving himi as blaemless and listening to demeaning way he treated me, keeping emotional distance so very far between us and "satisfying" me with a word or two of poetry. I have been split up with Rudi for 6 years now and I still can't get over all the shame that I dealt with while being with him. Honestly this is a normal charactar trait of a lot of potheads. I met them through Rudi. If you get a chance, please pray to God that finally after all these years and all this hurt, that I get over respecting Rudi and that I do find blame in him. It isn't being vindictive, it is just getting over what I once thought was Mr. Perfect. Rudi means wolf "beware of wolves in sheeps clothing", very appropriate for this scenerio. Maybe you can get some more imput, into this very serious issue. Perhaps you could say a prayer for me, because I still can't quite get over respecting him as the father of kids, respecting him for that. I never want to be in love with this manulipulitive pot smoker again.
And I pray that anyone that reads and writes in this post, know that smoking marijuana destroys a piece of you that was supposed to shine for our Lord
Love you all and blesses : :rose: Shar
Sleepy has put it in very kind words,

I'll put it in hard terms,

Marijuana - - - - - KILLS

Plain and simple, and my dead brother who is with Jesus will tell you the same.

He smoked the stuff for years and it sure didn't prevent him from getting cancer.
What a RUSH?

My dear Christian friend: Well, frankly - I don't know, all I know is the question you've asked has a clear answer, in my humble opinion: it's ALWAYS a bad idea to use drugs "recreationally" - and if there's true medical benefit, there is a difference.

God asks us to worship him with ALL OUR MINDS. As has been said here, we need to remain sharp to be what God calls us to be, and more importantly, to beat the Enemy! But if you're TRULY ILL, and this medication works for you - you have to weigh the costs/benefits to you. Many, many drugs alter the mind which includes everything from anti-depressants to decongestants/allergy pills. Think about it, people can use pain pills or any kind of mind-altering substances just to get high, and many do. Even Nyquil! It's wrong, it's bad, and it's illegal - as illegal as pot is, and in some states, to abuse legal narcotics. In fact, it's MUCH worse in terms of a "serious crime"... an example? Look at Rush Limbaugh and all the trouble he's in over a LEGAL drug. Then again, "drugs" are associated with witchcraft biblically if I am not mistaken? So you've got to use your head here.

Personally, I look at everything strictly chemically and psychologically on this issue, because we're obviously called not to be 'drunk with wine' but plenty of Christians do imbibe somewhat - not to get drunk, most, but just to relax a bit. I personally don't, because I'm too aware that alcohol is one of the poisons on the Earth, plain and simple, and affects every organ in the human body. My position is that if you are using ANY CHEMICAL, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, pot, pain meds, anti-anxiety drugs - then you need to seriously ask yourself WHY... and isn't there something like JESUS, that makes you HIGHER and more relaxed?? If not, thenyou have a serious medical condition, and should consider that indeed, medical cannabis, if prescribed by your doctor, might be a solution - and I personally would never argue with a patient about what works for him or her.

All drugs/prescriptions are a double-edged sword. I've seen medical cannabis replace other more mentally/physically harmful/destructive drugs - and I've also seen people abuse it until their minds are mush. I've seen people use pain medication to get through a surgery or a painful condition - and stop - whereas I've seen others get so addicted, it kills them. My mother's best friend died of a Percodan overdose. She started takin' 'em by the handful.

So... what's the real question here? Beause I think the answer is: NO DRUGS SHOULD EVER BE TAKEN RECREATIONALLY. I think sports, exercise, Jesus, dancing, and other forms of activity are far better, but not everybody feels as I do. How do you feel?

Whether or not medical cannabis is beneficial is answered by many, many doctors as a big yes. Very few, as I've read or understood, disagree, but the public doesn't do much homework. The doctors who agree with legalization/decriminalization are noteworthy. Including Dr. Parkinson, for example. I'm not going to pretend I'm a doctor, so, I'm leaving it up to those professionals - and definitely - I'm not silly enough to think that the pharmaceutical companies DO NOT want these other drugs of theirs, which are so expensive - and make such a harder whallop on the human body - to be replaced by a cheap growing weed. There's far too much profit for me to ignore that. And, there's way way too much ignorance about the medical benefits, and I'd guess the lack of research has a lot to do with that fact as well... since the funding comes from big big drug companies - not medical cannabis growers. And it seems to me that as homeopathic medicines are becoming more and more popular, that people are getting wise to the tactics of the huge medical drugs companies' tactics, and might turn to cannabis more - they say it really works on a number of different illnesses. And until I've walked in the shoes of people with say... horrible nausea from chemo, or neuralgic pain - I am not going to judge.

God bless you all for seeking the Truth through the Holy Spirit on this thread.

In Him,

I think there is one thing that makes me think.....somewhat differently about cannibis. Now correct me if i'm wrong, but from my research i've read that in Exedus 30:23-32 it is mentioned. It also says not to reproduce the annointing oil, but it kinda makes me think differently. I've read about drugs being used in witchcraft, but would it be the same saying the there was a "drug" in the annointing oil as well? I definatly agree with califlower on the not using drugs recreationally. I just really wonder why God put weed on the earth. I also want to thank everyone for posting, ya'lls input has been a real blessing to me in working this whole mess in my head out.

Exodus 30:23-32

(23) Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of (sweet calamus)kaw-neh' bo'-sem two hundred and fifty shekels,(24) And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin 25) And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.(26) And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony,(27) And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense,(28) And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.(29) And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.(30) And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.(31) And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.(32) Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.33 Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.

:rose: Marijuanna has been legaized in certain conditions, for medicinal purposes in Canada. We have a few more things that are a little too "liberal", meaning that some of our "liberal" legeslations are taking away our basic right to true liberty and freedom. I hope I never see the day, when religious freedom is totally taken from us, but I can see the trend and it makes me sad. Imagine pornography being legal and Christianity a crime against government. A little off topic from the marijuanna story, it's just that the whole thing is just one big bundle of failure. Stay strong in Christ and thanks to all who put meaning into talkjesus. Amen :rose:
Pixie: I was really impressed that you put that together. Seems the roles have reversed politically in terms of partisanship - and freedom. Interesting, to stay the least, in the end-days. Thank you so much for an intelligent and worthwhile post.

God bless you all mightily. If anybody knows where to find "drugs" associated with "withcraft", or "soothsaying" in scripture, could you let me know?? Thanks very kindly.
