Is Marriage a Religious Sacrement?

Did GOD establish marriage as a gift to the faithful or as an antonement for the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden?

God made man and woman and joined them together to compliment and complete his perfect creation.

Many times he tells us this is his will and desire. People in the time of Moses and under the law, were hard headed and Moses did make some concessions.....but Jesus tells us this is wrong. Maybe forgiven but still wrong.

God created marriage simple because it is his will. his way, and as he can see how society works and will work designed the perfect way.

We as men fight this, and make excuses and do it our way. Which is wrong. All sins are forgiven, but they are still wrong.

So it is not a gift, it is the will of God. It is not an atonement for anything it is a command.

The only reason marriage is a command is so that if you "burn" you will not fall into temptation and have a sexual relationship beforehand.

Marriage is indeed a gift because I do NOT deserve my husband. I do NOT deserve his love, but he gives it freely and without any strings attached.

Marriage is a beautiful covenant, which should never be broken.

I agree that marriage is everything already mentioned : a gift and covenant from God and also something that we are strongly encouraged to do, if only to avoid burning in lust.

God established marriage before Adam sinned.

Gen 2:18 NKJV And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."
....
Gen 2:21-24 NKJV And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. (22) Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. (23) And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." (24) Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

So it definitely wasn't for atonement for sin.

Just an Observation....

Even a casual skim through the OT history of Israel reveals an interesting thread that runs throughout their history up to the time of their return from Babylon. That thread is a constant rejection of 3 foundational principles regarding the relationships that God sought to establish within mankind.
The first was the truth that the Lord is God, and there is no other. Israel had constant problems with idolatry, taking to themselves the idols and gods of their neighbours. This repeatedly dogged Israel and and was the cause of their committing many atrocities and abominations that today we cannot comprehend, for example child sacrifice. Idolatry therefore had a direct oimpact on their relationship with God.
The second was the Sabbath. Neglecting the Sabbath was a major problem for Israel and God sent many warnings through His prophets to repent.
The third was with regard their relationships with women. Intermarriage with non-Israeli women caused constant problems, the major one being the introduction into Israel culture the worship practices of foreign nations. Thus the foreign women brought in the idols which resulted in the neglect of Sabbath. Interestingly all three principles, marriage, the Sabbath, and the Lord God being Creator and solely worthy of worship, are found in the Garden of Eden before sin.

Marriage

I read your profile. Could you please tell me what the De Nova Perspective?
I did a search of all the searck engines, and all I could find was find that the words ment " afresh, anew, begining again". Is this a group or a statement about you becoming new?

The answer is marraige in the will of God is a blessing. But marriage to an unbeliever is very difficult. Even in the very best of those married Christians they must face problems and differences with grace, mercy, forgiveness, anda covenant promise to God to make this marriage work. Divorce is always because of hardness of heart, and that is never what the Lord wants.

The deeper meaning of Marriage:

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

God designed creation completely around his finished work of revelation of himself unto his creation. The marriage he gave to man was subsequently showing man what his relationship with him will be like. Rather than being one flesh we become one spirit. Christ is the head of man just as the man is the head of his wife. And it is no accident that one of the greatest experiences in life is when a man and his wife come together as one flesh. The scriptures say that at his right hand are pleasures forevermore.
