Is it true that we were put on Earth to have a relationship with God?

Is it true that we were created to have a relationship with God? Is this our main purpose?

No. Cart before horse.

We are on earth so that God can see who wants a relationship with Him.

--------------------------

Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior / believing in our heart and confessing it with our mouth Rom 10:9, it will be clear to God that we are after His heart, and He will graft us into His family Rom 11:17. We will be adopted sons and daughters Eph 1:5.

I have been thinking that a big part of this life is that God is trying to figure out who really loves Him and He is trying to figure out who His true children are.

God doesnt need to figure out anything. He knows them, and is patiently waiting that more will turn to him.

So since God is all knowing and knows who is His then this brings me back to my first questions in my first post.

Just take a look at how often it references those walking with God.
This speaks to a relationship between God, and man. It's not like we provide God with anything that He doesn't already have, but rather what He gives to us! Amazing to contemplate! Alleluia! \o/

Oh, and there are so many more scripture verses then these too on the why!

[7 Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him." ... 21 This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. Isaiah 43:7, 21 NKJV

He has shown you, O man, what [is] good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8 NKJV

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

and to make all see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly [places], Ephesians 3:9-10 NKJV

Nice question to ask. For which I would say simply, "yes", though simple it is not, but should be.
God bless you.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

God can and does know who His children are. I don't think it is Him who needs to do the figuring out ;).

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Once we are with Him, life is all about service to Him and Him placing trials and tribulations on us. This all to see how loyal we are. Earth with the evil it has is a great place for Him (and us) to see what we are made of.

Picture a spouse being faithful despite many hitting on them at work. How much greater will your love for them be?

Well there is still a relationship to be built and maintained.

I personally am completely neutral on whether or not God actually created us. I think that its entirely possible God delegated full creation of human life to adam and eve, and ever since then our physical and spiritual origin can be traced all the way back to them...and this is why we have to be born again.

On the the other hand, the disney film soul may in fact be more accurate. Every human is born with a freshly created godly spirit, and inevitably it will sin within a very short time and be in need of being born again....

I agree there is still a relationship to be built and maintained. We have to take the time, effort, and energy to nurture and maintain a relationship with Him. I disagree with your other statements though. I think God did create us (Gen 1:26-27) and we are born sinful sinners.

Did you sin before you were born? Or after?

Just because God can know all things does not mean He does. That is an assumption that many make.

Both God's omnipotence and omniscience are limited by who He is. He upholds righteousness to the highest possible level Psalm 145:17.

Therefore, if it can be proven that knowing something or doing something is evil, God does not know or do it. We have true free will to accept or reject Jesus.

I think God did create us (Gen 1:26-27) and we are born sinful sinners.

We were born in sin, not with sin. Big difference.

Unless you believe Adam and Eve will need to stand trial for yours and my sin?
