Is it still Adultery when you dream?

Member
Is it still adultery when you are dreaming having sex with someone else. I don't have any control over my dreams. Even though I read the word and hear the word i still have these dreams sometimes. A couple of times I dreamed my wife was having sex with me right there and I grabbed her and hit her. I prayed real hard about that dream. So, Jesus said in his sermon on the mount that, "It is written that Thou shall not commit Adultery. I say even if a man (woman) looks at a woman (man) and lust after them has commited adultery". These are not the exact words, but you get the meaning. Does this scripture pretain to my question? I don't come tot this site offend because no one is ever on line. So, email me at either [email protected] or [email protected] I have other questions, if I receive a reply to this I will post them. Have a Blessed and wonderful day.

According to what I've learned so far from the Bible I don't think dreams would count. However, it is what you do and what you desire throughout the day that *may* affect your dreams. Otherwise, I am not 100% sure on dreams.

Well pardon me my friend but how can the site grow to nearly 500 members in less than one year and no one ever be online? When you feel like no one is online, and not participating it does not help so please do share the site with others. Nothing happens by itself and nothing happens overnight. This site is a blessing to many, thanks to Jesus Christ :)

As I've learned over the years.
You said you're with your wife when you have Abominible dreams?
It is part of an Adultery to have dream like that when you know that you're with your wife.
I perfectly understand your concern though,Satan himself can do alot of ways to put us out of God's grip when we think of certain issues not resolving the Truth.
I'm glad you admit that,it shows that you're on the right track for letting other believer's what you're going through.
Scripture from Romans 12:2 tells us not to take part of and in this world.Meaning that we have to put aside the things that'll tangle our faith.
My friend,I'll pray that you'd get to be put on the right corner of your faith.
Don't go out in the streets nor book store to get those images come to life.
Read the scriptures that talks about Purity.
I suggest that you read first 5 chapters of Romans to keep you on track.
It helps,I know.Been reading Romans 5 everyday.
If you're still into that state, read Psalm 51.( prayer confession ).

QUOTE]

hi, i've never posted on here before
i must disagree that dreaming about adultery constitutes sin. were i to dream about giving money to a homeless person, would i expect that to be rewarded in heaven? No. Dreams are often Gods way of telling us something, and are often not to be taken entirely literally (just look in Genesis for examples). i.e. This dream could be God letting you know that you crave the physical, when really you should crave the spiritual. Thank you for being so humble and honest as to confess this thing to us; i really don't think it would be appropriate for anyone to cast judgement on you even if you had committed the act in real life, so i would advise you to pray that God will show you the true meaning of the dream and to love and honour your wife where it really matters, your waking hours.

God bless

If any man lacks wisdom let him ask of God who giveth liberly, and abraideth not, But let him that ask ask believing nothing doubting . For he that doubts shall not recieve anything. This is not an exact quote. If you looked up some of the key words in your Bible you would find this passage. God bless.

Dear Beloved brother in the Lord,
Do not feel condemed when you have these dreams. The more we allow the Word of God to penetrate our soul, it begans to transform our mind on a daily walk with the Lord.

Also, (and not stepping over the mark I hope) consider (for males in any case) the event of nocturnal emission and often, or usually the a stimulating dream that accompanies. If God has designed the human body to function in this way, then I'm not going to pick a fight about it.
I suppose the most prudent thing to do is simply do a personal evaluation of your heart regarding these matters, and while seeking the Lord, see where you are at.

dreams

These dreams are from what you have in your heart,

Forming from the things in your life that you see,

Not saying you are looking at any thing that is wrong,

You know more about that then my self,

But I know as I have hade such dreams in my life

Though I am not married, from filling my heart

Within such things as naked woman in chat

And still fighting it in lots of ways,

And it still takes a hold this sin in my heart

when I don’t look at woman I find it is still there

Looking at other woman in such away is sin we know that much

its is something that we have to over come

As the hearts is reviled from the Lord in your dreams

Of what is going on in your life,

And It don’t even stop there at times

it also make you Talk within ways you know is not right,

and thin your mind goes to place

In which you know -you would never do,

You have to but your foot down,

And face it head on-renewing your mind day -lee

And praying you over come this ,

And you will -

we just have to remember that sin is at the door,

And its desire is to over come us,

But we are over comers within The Lord Jesus,

Keep up the fight brother never give in,

You have already won--it was pad for along time ago.

Your brother in Christ -Clifford Wayne Duncan.
p,s I like what ever one hade to say about it trying to shine more light on the mater-we all go thru it-- and that is the key we will go thru it together..

I can't really answer your question about whether adulterous dreams are a sin, but I can share my own experiences.

If I have a dream and it's starting to "go downhill," I get so uncomfortable that I actually wake up. It's true! So I can honestly say that I am faithful to my husband even in my sleep. All my dreams of that nature have been with my husband.

Just keep staying close to God and feed your Spirit on prayer, the Bible and good Christian fellowship and adulterous dreams should hopefully fade away.

So I say live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature! Galatians 5:16

Hope this helps

What a good question!!!!!!!!!!!

Only my opinion here, Dreams are often the way the enemy inserts thoughts into our mind. Though not always...

Let me ask you, How often are you aware that you are dreaming? I mean while you are dreaming. When you are aware, you can take control over the thoughts of your mind just as much as you can when you are awake. By replacing those thoughts with other thoughts.

Don't ever think you have no control over your own mind. They'll lock you up. lol:shade:

Hi my friend this is my humble opinion and how I think Jesus would see it.First God does not condemm you,hes a loving understanding God,I think you cannot always control your dream,I had some ungodly dreams too that I feel guilty about.I think its different though if we day dream in our awake state over another person whos not our own spouse or someone whos married but not to you,if your thought sexually thoughts then, yes that would be wrong because God said even looking at another lustfully apart from your wife /husband is adultery.Maybe it would heelp if you and your wife prayed together before you went to sleep just to have lovely intimate relational dreams of each other if you know what i mean, because with each other its very beautiful the way God intended it to be,one man one woman, hope im being helpful God bless x
