Is God in Control?

What do we make of this scripture if we believe that God is in control of everything?

1John 5:19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one. (NLT)

If God is in control of everything then why would we need faith for anything?

Giving the world to the evil one is evidence of free will as there is time and space for us all to rebel along with the devil. If God ruled the world, we would not have that.

We can't grasp God with just verses explaining His sovereignty, omnipotence and omniscience. We need to combine them with verses like 1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

God is sovereign. God is also light with no darkness. God is also good Psalm 136:1. God is also love 1 John 4:8. These are all equal absolute truths. Now a human brain that does not gasp and properly consider this all into the classifiaction of God can arrive at terrible assumptions of Him.

We need faith because we are in a war zone away from our home . A war zone that a good God permits for true free will to exist.

Well....you know of course that the world around us lies in the power of Satan because we allow it...You know that WE have been given dominion in the Earth..Jesus said " I tell you people that whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." Matthew 18:18 (CJB)
God gave us dominion in the beginning, Adam gave it away and then Jesus took the keys from Satan and gave dominion back to us. He made US kings and priests not Satan
Satan is god of this world only in that he still controls the sinful things, false religions, etc. He is a major influence in government, education, entertainment too, but YOU have dominion over him...He must bow his knee when you speak..Unless of course he can con you into speaking contrary to the Word. When you line your speaking contrary to the Word you line it up with Satans way of doing things and you loose him to do his dirty deeds. When you speak according to the Word, you block Satan and render him powerless to do anything but whine and cower.

We still need faith because we operate under the Word and believe it.....We trust it...

Do I believe God is in control of everything? I believe God is in control of everything that we place into his hands by our faith to control!!! If we just say God is in control of everything without by faith giving him access to this earth by our faith, then no he is not!!

The Lord God has always needed a man to believe in what he tells him, so that mans faith would give God "access" into the earth to perform what God said to him he would do.
I believe Noe, because of his faith in believing what God had told him, by bringing a flood upon the earth gave God access to the earth to perform it. If it was not for Noe's faith I do not believe God could have brought the flood upon the earth. Because Noes was expecting this flood to come. God did not condemn that world, it was Noe who condemned it because of his faith.

Heb 11:7 BY FAITH NOAH, BEING WARNED BY GOD concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. BY THIS HE CONDEMNED THE WORLD and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

In the Book of Hebrews chapter eleven we find many many people who did great exploits by God because of their faith. Only God himself could have performed these great feats of power, and amazement, but it was only because of their faith that allowed the Lord to perform them.

As some else said, God gave us (men) the dominion. Our only hope is to give it back to Him. This is the Hope for each one of us and his own little "world" of flesh (the dirt God formed). The choices are all ours. The only choice that works to do "good" is to surrender our control over ourselves to God. This was not possible until Jesus paid the price and provided the means.

Jesus says that he overcame the world [John 16:33] which was the world of his own corruptible flesh. His sacrifice made it possible for each of us through the power of the Word and the Holy Ghost to do the same. This we can do, if we are able to admit that we alone cannot overcome this world, but that God has through Jesus provided Way for us to do now...

Jesus did not overcome planet earth or all of the evil in planet earth and all of its inhabitants. All we have to do is look around us to know that. When and IF we overcome as He overcame then we will be like Him [I John 3:2]. The promises made to overcomers in Rev chapter 2 and 3 are very real, but we must do our part to obtain them.

It has always been God's plan from the very beginning to work in concert with his man. We are all "coworkers" together with God in exactly the same way Jesus co worked with his Father on earth. Jesus had faith in his Father and his Father performed all the miracles in which he Jesus had faith in him to perform. God moves according to our faith we have in him to work!! As it is written...

Gal 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

God minsters to us his Spirit, and he works miracles among us, not because we keep the law, but by hearing our faith!!! :)
