Hi I need to know Is God as my witness is swearing? You know any Bible verse and info about that?
Thank you and God Bless ☺

I don't believe it is, as long as you are being 100% truthful in what you say.

Romans 1:9-15 (KJV)

9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; 10 Making request , if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established ; 12 That is , that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. 13 Now I would not have you ignorant , brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto ,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Romans 1:9-15 (NIV)

9 God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you 10 in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you. 11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong-- 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith. 13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. 14 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.

Hi, StandTro: You have posed a very interesting question. "Is 'God as my witness' is swearing?"

If this statement is referring to speaking the truth, which God could vouch for. Then this reminds me of what Jesus said to his apostles in Matthew 5:34-37, (NIV): "But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes', and your 'No', 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one."

Jesus emphasized that his followers, when they say yes they mean yes, and when they say no they mean no. "Your word is enough." Perhaps you should ask yourself: Why would you want to make a statement that God could vouch for? If your words are simple and true, you should not have to state that God could vouch for your words. Besides, life has taught me, even when some people say "God as my witness" it has sometimes later transpires they were lying. Perhaps that is why Jesus said this, and that "anything beyond this comes from the evil one."

If you are a true follower of Jesus, you would want to inspire peoples confidence in what you say as truthful, "all the time," and not bother trying to convince people you are speaking the truth by adding "God as my witness."

God is my what??

What Chad said!!!
