Is evolution in Genesis? ("Bring Forth" -- A process or in an instant?)

Since this is a passionate topic for many, I implore you to listen first before you rush to any judgments as
I know most people know what they believe and believe they are right. Right?

So when speaking of evolution let us first distinguish between Macro evolution and Micro evolution.

Micro(small) relating to changes within a species. This type of evolution is less debated by Christians
as we know for example that certain birds will adapt and grow longer beaks to reach higher plants
as their food sources changes overtime, etc, etc due to changes in their environment. Micro evolution,
changes within a species is not very controversial in the scientific community.

Macro(large scale) evolution however is of more controversial. Macro evolution deals with changes
from one species to another. Like Ape to human, or fish to frog. Additionally, Macro evolution is
often looked to as many as not just a process(change) but a origin(beginning).

I'll start by stating what my position has been then I share something I was reading today in regular
Bible study. My position has been that Micro evolution is true but not Macro evolution. I believe that
humans for example can adapt and produce more melanin in their skin when their ancestors move
closer to the equator and thus developing darker skin to adjust to the sun, but the human won't change
to a gorilla.

So this morning I was reading Genesis, and I've read the Bible 2 times through on my 3rd time and Genesis
chapter one was one of my memory passages, I have the whole chapter in memory. But today
as I was reading it, something just popped out to me. I was looking at the creation of the birds
and the fowl and the wording used in the KJV, and it said,

"And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that
may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. (V 20)"

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing,
and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. (V24)"


Notice how the WORD of God speaks of how these animals were created, it speaks
and says that they were brought forth from the water and the earth.
The word used in verse 24 (yatsa) for "bring forth" means to

(....come forth, grow, depart from, come forward, extract, rise,.........)


When I hear "bring forth" I don't here, poof, just appear out of nothing,
I hear a process, maybe gradual, maybe not, but definitely I hear process.
Not something I wanted to hear but I'm seeing it now. Do you see it?

When God creates man we are told that God Himself did the work.
Man was "formed" from the ground.

"Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

But with the animals they were brought forth, from the earth. I think about
how a child comes forth from a mother's womb in birth. It is a process, first
the head comes out, then the body, then finally the legs. I also think about
being a little child hiding under the bed and my parents might say,
"come out of there" and when I came out, it was a process, stages.
I would tuck my head out, then start to crawl out and then push myself out.


The words "bring forth" no doubt shows an intimate connection between
the creation of the animals and the ground itself. We know that all of the
elements in man (nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, etc) are also found in the dirt.
Likewise this is same for the animals.

However, is this intimate connection between the animals "coming forth" from
the ground one of a process by which God "evolves" them and pulls them out (yatsa) of
the elements of the earth, or is it merely poetic language "come hither ye animals (come forth)"
to figuratively speak of how they were created in a nanosecond and just appeared out of nothing?

And if the latter (figurative speech), what other similar figurative speech is there to be found
in the creation story in Genesis?

I'll add that the text does not seem to speak of species changing in their KIND, because we
are told:

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,
cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so."

So while the statement "bring forth" hints at a possible process, we have parameters (after his kind )
that tell us that this process did not involve species changing from one KIND to another KIND, (Macro evolution)
but instead it indicates more of a coming into their fullness (through some process) yet without going through
the state of first being a totally separate species or KIND.

So perhaps they did evolve as they came forth,
but not as the scientist believe them to have; coming from one species(KIND) to another species (KIND).
