For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16

Today is Arbor Day. Take a look at the trees, the sky, and the stars. God made it all for you to enjoy, but He also made it for Himself. He made things He likes—streams, geysers, tulips, and you. And God takes care of His creation.

Everything in nature has its origin in God. Sometimes in the face of nature’s grandeur this truth is forgotten. Romans 1:25 says, “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.” Enjoy creation, take care of what you can, learn new ways to appreciate what God has made—and then praise Him for taking care of creation. That care extends to you.

If you find yourself overwhelmed by the beauty of God’s creation, then let it serve as a reminder that friendship with God is deep, rewarding, and surpasses the beauty of this earth.

As inspired as creation may be here, it can be hard to imagine the heaven God has prepared for His family. It’s not just the beauty of what you see, but the beauty of God’s perfect home where “’He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

The greatest beauty on earth is a reflection of God’s best future.
