And Paul and Silas passed through the territory of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Word in [the province of] Asia. Acts 16:6 AMPC
Paul and Silas wanted to strengthen the churches in Asia, just as they had been doing in other towns, but were forbidden by the Holy Spirit from entering. Maybe they would have been entering an even more dangerous situation, or maybe God intended for them to take the Gospel beyond Asia Minor and on into Greece. Whatever the reason, the Spirit expected and received their complete cooperation.
Think about the last time you were prompted by the Spirit to do something contrary to what you were planning. How quick were you to obey? What did your obedience or disobedience reveal about your trust in God?
Living a life of faithful obedience means being in tune with the Spirit’s promptings. How well do you hear the Spirit’s voice? Do you ever have doubts when you believe He is speaking to you? How might your faith increase if you were to obey Him without any questions?
The Lord often gives His children everything they need to know, exactly when they need to know it. When believers act in faith, He provides further instruction.
Prayer: Lord, I want to walk in obedience to Your voice. Tune my ear to hear only You, Father, so that Your kingdom can be advanced through me to Your Glory and Praise.
