IN HIS IMAGE
In the first chapter of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, we see the decision by God to make man in His own image. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: (Genesis 1:26a). Even though this is at the beginning of the Bible, does not mean that GOD has completed making all men in His image. We only need to look at the people in the world today to know that GOD is not done making man “in His image.” He has made everything beautiful in His time; (Ecclesiastes 3:11a)
Who (Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15).
Because the Son of God Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15),…….we are made in the image of GOD as we are conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (from Romans 8:29). Part of making man in His own image is to teach us to know the difference between good and evil (from Hebrews 5:14), is to cleanse or purify us of unrighteousness (sin), and to help us mature in wisdom and grace as the attributes of Jesus Christ (fruit of the Spirit) are enhanced in our life by Christ being formed in us.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23). Until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: (Ephesians 4:13). And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).
