Scripturally we know He get's angry, He laughs and it is His joy that is our strength. We know He desires our fellowship as this was both the reason for man's creation and his redemption.
The finally there is love- God not only loves but He Himself is love. His heart is tender towards all who call on His Name. We can see this demonstrated in the way He pours out His love on us and we can see it in His provision for our needs. As we eat today's bread He already had tomorrow's wheat growing in the fields.

God is a spirit
(Joh 4:24 ) so its different .
but God became flesh and of course understands (like in hebrew says about temptation:
(Heb 4:15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. )
he also made us and knows how we feel.

Reading the Bible would be your best start.
It tells us that Jesus wept, he got thirsty, he got weary, angry, and anxious.
He was God, who became flesh, and was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
He understands our infirmities for he dealt with them,himself.
He was totally God, yet totally man.
Now he is our High Priest.
I would suggest you start reading in the gospel of John?
Or, just start at the beginning ,in Genesis,and read through the whole Bible from start to finish.
It is a marvelous book, and is the one that tells us of Jesus.
The beginning, and the end.

Personally I do not believe the Father had any trouble understanding us before the cross my friend.
Right, thats not what i meant to say (ty for pointing that out though). But He knows and has also felt like we are and even temptations so He knowns how those things He had to suffer feels like.

I know that God has emotions.
He got angry, righteous anger in the Old Testament. Read about Noah and the flood. That story is in Genesis 7,8 and 9 from when the flood started to the covenant God made with Noah.
God showed love. John 3:16
Since we are created in God's image, I would believe the Creator would give His creation emotions that He has. Since Jesus is totally God and was totally man, we can see the emotions God has.
Some has already given the examples of Jesus' emotions. 'Jesus wept' is the shortest Bible verse found in John 11:35.
