Hello everyone that may be reading this. I am new here and am asking that you,, whoever you are, remember me in your prayers.
First I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Brent. My story is that I was raised in a church. Strayed away at age 13 due to the fact that I just didnt get it. I had all these people hounding me and hounding me to be baptised and then when I finally went to the front to do it, the pastor wouldn't do it. So I gave up. With all the talk of , " get baptized or your going to hell " I thought that it was strange and even cruel to do this to a young man. So I left the church. Now I'm 40. God has been pulling on my heart since the day I left the church and even more so now. The deal is I'm not concerned about the hell thing , really never was. I only want to do what God wants me to do. To serve Him. I guess what I'm asking is. Pray that God will reveal His Truth to me and guide down a path to Him.

Thanks very much, Brent

Hi Brent, it is a pleasure to you. I look forward to reading your posts and seeing what God is doing in your life.
Many blessings in Jesus Name,
your brother Larry.

Hi Brent.

The brief history that you've posted is very interesting. I know in my own family that when a member has wandered God has gently pulled them back to Himself and His church. I trust that He won't stop calling you until you find the way He wants you to travel.

Bless you heaps.

Praying for you too TallTex, even though religion has disappointed you, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed in God.

Brent it is nice to meet you, you have been very open and honest and may the Lord bless you for that. I have and will pray for you, it takes more than being dipped in water to get you into heaven. Stay close and God will reveal Himself to you and everything else will follow. I pray too for the pastor how has been responsible for this as he also needs the Lord to open his eyes.

Blessing in Christ.

Thank you all so much for replying to my post. Sorry that it has taken so long for me to reply . My internet connection was down for a couple of days.

I would like to say that I dont blame any of those people for the decisions I have made in my life up to this point. Yes some of their actions were a little strong but thats water that is way under the bridge. My difficulties right now is change. Deeply engrained habbits and a way of thinking that is sometimes very unfruitful.

I read my bible and study the Word at least 3 times a week. I pray and stay as coise to Him as I can. Slowly but surely things are becoming more clear as to what I need to be doing to make my trans ition. What I have said here is really only a small part of the whole story. I just didn't want everyone to think I was blaming others for my decisions.

Again , thank you all

Brent

I did not get the impression you were blaming others my friend. As you draw close to Him you begin to see those who caused issues in your life as they really are- souls in the darkness of bondage.
But I do have the impression that you are going to be blessed beyond measure as you seek His face and learn His ways.:shade:
Ask the Holy Spirit (our Teacher) to give you revelation in the Word and how to apply it in your life as you read.
Many blessings in His Name,
your brother Larry.

I am & will be praying for you Brent.

I do want to clarify 1 important thing.
Baptism is an outward display of the trasformation inside.
The thief on the cross was never baptised yet Jesus told him, "Today you will be with me in paradise".
Therefore it is NOT mandatory for salvation to be baptised in water - physically, only to be baptised in the Holy Spirit - spiritually.

I have'nt dropped off the radar. Your prayers are working. I feel it. I also feel a great struggle going on between my flesh and my spirit. Not to mention between myself and the enemy. rlowe I do understand about the whole baptism in water thing. I will be baptized because it is obedience. Right now getting my carnal self to obey God's law and wisdom is the struggle. It's ok though. As I sit here writing this now , I'm watching the old man die. Its a process. Thank you all again.

Brent

Look unto the Rock

Hi Brent,

you said "Right now getting my carnal self to obey God's law and wisdom is the struggle."

I just feel an urge to say this.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

In this world, we tend to get this notion that "ok, I am saved by grace, but I can now conquer in my flesh" sort of mentality, but that is not going to work, eqecially considering that until the day we die there will be great spiritual warfare.

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

It is going to be by the Holy Spirit's working upon us that we can ever gain victory over the flesh. Remember that according to Ephesians 2, we walked "according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air" and were fufilling the lust of the flesh. Truely flesh cannot overcome flesh. Cast every need, every burden, every problem upon the Lord and he shall sustain you.

The Lord sanctifies, cleanses, and can give us the victory in any area of our lives we are struggling with. The question then is, are we willing to cast our cares, worrys, anxieties, our needs upon God.

Let there be a continual knocking at God's door for help. consider Luke 18:1-8, which speaks of the widow and the judge.

1Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
