there are scriptures that declare clearly on either of budgeting. I find myself pretty seasonal....when money is tight i budget, but when things are flush i tend to impulse buy.

what do u do?

When money is tight you budget? Or do you simply be careful to spend necessities, instead of wants?
I think that in order to budget one needs an income....Some of us have little to no income...Back in 1975 with as wife and four kids to support, my total income from work was 1300.00 How would a person budget? Yes that was One thousand three hundred dollars for a year

Remember, Robaston, that it all belongs to God:

"For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills." Psalm 50:10

When it comes to handling money properly I, that is, my wife of 43 years and I, have been in the worst of places, but God brought me through to a better place in that. Rich? No, not as the world would account being rick, but in the things of God. And what happened to the poor money handling? The answer is in the verse (and in many others certainly):

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33

I have a great but lengthy testimony on what God did for me financially, but I won't tell that now. The important thing is to go after sincerely the two things emphasized in that verse:
1) Seek ye 1st the kingdom of God
2) Seek ye 1st his righteousness

This does not mean abandon everything else. This doesn't mean forget about the things of the flesh which we believe we need or desire. It does mean getting our priorities straight. First things first.

Remember what Peter said when he and John came up the gate Beautiful and saw a lame man begging?

"...Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:..." Acts 3:6

Peter was not a materially rich man, but he had something to give and he gave it.

Remember the answer to your question is to learn to always put first things first. That verse I gave tells you what should be first. Cannot do it immediately or always? Do the best that you can and ask God to help you to do it better...

Ask for His help and don't stop asking. Ask daily and more than once a day. Don't stop asking for so long as you have time.

Amadeus Everything belongs to God.Its true But not always.

God gave me a car...Who does the car belong to? I say that it's mine..Not Gods unless I give it for His service....
Mark 11:24 (CJB)
24 Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, trust that you are receiving it, and it will be yours.
It was God's to give to me..But once it's given, its my car...It's my house. Its my shirt...
Here too the religious Christians have taken a verse and built a doctrine, out of context..
How would you feel if you gave your child a bicycle and then heard them saying..'Oh yes! Its a lovely bicycle but it's my dads you know. It's not mine" You would feel like you and your gift have been rejected.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33
I love this verse, Seek the kingdom of God in me...Seek to put God first in me....Seek to submit to Him in all things and He will give me all I need and much of what I want too..

Consider @Bendito that people do act as if and even believe that things are theirs, but they are not. We are all stewards of the things God has provided until and if we become heirs.

He gave us a natural body of flesh and He gave us a certain amount of time and He gave us everything that we have. The choice of what to do with what we have is entirely ours, but if we do not follow His counsel, if we do not turn the reins He has given to us back to Him, we will miss His Way in the end of the matter.

Remember also the parable of the talents.

Did you read this verse brother? Mark 11:24 (CJB)
24 Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, trust that you are receiving it, and it will be yours. It does not say this stuff will be Gods...It says it will be YOURS and mine....You have the right of course to dedicate it to God but YOU own it.
Look at this verse...Paul talking to Ananias "
Acts 5:4
Before you sold it, the property was yours; and after you sold it, the money was yours to use as you pleased. So what made you decide to do such a thing? You have lied not to human beings but to God!” Ananias owned it..Not God
1 Corinthians 3:21
So let no one boast about human beings, for all things are yours... All things are yours

To say that my underwear are God's in nothing but religious doctrine and not truth.

Income isnt really limited to earned income from work. The assets we have that we can live off is another, then there is govt subsides and welfare, friends who help us out when we need it, etc. You cannot live on $1300 a year alone, with a wife and four kids.

You're right...We harvested crops nobody wanted and made stuff with that..Food stamps helped...and yes. a lot of people helped out..But that was my earnings for the year....Not budgetable.

Actually we are told to be persistent in prayer.

Luke 18:2; saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man.
Luke 18:3; There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’
Luke 18:4; For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,
Luke 18:5; yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’”
Luke 18:6; And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;
Luke 18:7; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?

I think I'll hit this from a different angle. Not to go astray from your original question, but to add to it.

Proverbs 3:9
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce;

2 Corinthians 9:6
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

So when those things that are yours turn to dust, do they still belong to you?

I surely don't wish to argue with you or anyone, but I do believe we are not our own and that nothing that we have is really ours. It will be ours if and when we inherit. I grant that the Father will allow us to go into stupidity as the prodigal son. The Father gave it to him, but to take it before it is time and before God says it is time is, I believe, a great foolishness on our part:

"But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee." I Chron 29:14

Look at this verse...Paul talking to Ananias "

"The property was yours" to me means not ownership control but as a steward has control, not so much because of the context of that verse but from what I see in the entirety of scripture.

1 Corinthians 3:21
So let no one boast about human beings, for all things are yours... All things are yours

To say that my underwear are God's in nothing but religious doctrine and not truth.

"God has given us many things, but for how long?
And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." Job 1:21

People may say that that was OT and doesn't apply to us, but I don't believe that. It does apply to us for the time of our natural dying still is before us.

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Heb 9:27

The judgment of the stewards who have had the Life of Jesus! Not the judgment of unbelievers who are already dead and are already condemned!

When the dirt is thrown over our faces then I believe the time of stewardship is ended. We will either inherit or we won't according to the accounting of our stewardship...

No, God is not forgetful and He even knows what we need or want before we open our mouths, but like when a small child speaks to his parent, does not the parent want to hear the words of the child even though he may well know already what is going to be said?

.

Indeed and a good point it is too. We must work with whatever we have whether we own it or only have it on loan or we are managing it for someone else

It really does not matter if you consider it your money or not your money, what matters is what you do with it. And what you do with it will have a great impact on how you spend eternity. Jesus Talks more about how we should handle money then any other topic in the bible.

I like that...We are blessed so we can be a blessing. We become a kind of distribution center for Gods blessing....

New International Version Psalms 24-1
Of David. A psalm. The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

New International Version Deuteronomy 10:14
To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.

New International Version Job 41:11
Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

New International Version Haggai 2:8
The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD Almighty.

I take back what I said earlier everything is the Lords God, we own nothing we are stewards,
