Hi everyone,

Well i wanted to tell you all what happened tonight...my husband and I asked jesus into our hearts! it is very strang to me still, and i am going to be very honest about my feelings as i write this! I will tell you what happened...

tonight we went for a good run and then came home and ordered pizza (not important info...just fun to share lol). well i was sort of watching tv...not much on and jason (husband) was playing nba live on the computer. Well a couple of days ago someone on here told me they felt urgency about my situation and they told me to think about where i will go when i die. well a lot of people have asked me that, but with the word "urgency" it really scared me. I am very scared to die, and have members of my family die. Well i was thinking about it tonight and wondering why they felt urgency...does it mean i am going to die, and i was so scared inside, but a thought came into my head and told me it is not that way. that th eurgency exisits because i need to help other people before they die...not me.

I wondered, as i have a million times, if it was the devil telling me weird things....but then another thought came to me telling me "why would the devil you to help people beleive in Me?" and the thought also told asked me if i feel better now than I did before I listened to my heart (God talking to me)...and the answer was that I id feel better knowing it was not all about me dying....well then I thought why would the devil amek me feel better...he wouldn't! So therefore I deduced that "the thoughts" must have been put in my head by God. It's hard to explain, but it works for me so i'm going with it lol.

So then my "conversation" went on...Krista do you beleive in God-yes...Krista do you beleive in Jesus my son-Yes...Krista do yu beleive that Jesus died on the cross so all of your sins may be forgiven-Yes....and on and on. And in the end I had answered all of the questions I needed to answer. I didnt really even know I believed it all...but I do...I just dont understand it all. There is a difference. So I knew I was right with God and I new I would go o Heaven if I asked him to come into my heart.

so anyhow I knew I had to talk to my husband about what I have been learning at TJ and so tonight (maybe 15 minutes after this conversaion in my mind) when he said he wanted some fresh air (its really hot here right now) I said I would go with him...and we went andlay under the stars outside. I dont know how i brought it up, but I told him that I have learnt a lot about going ot heaven and I told him that unless we did some certain things we would go to hell. He said he didn't want to go to hell and asked what we had to do. I hope I told him the right thing. I told him that we have to believe in God. We have to beleive that God sent his son Jesus to earth. That Jesus was 100% man and 100% god (is that right?) and that Jesus died on the corss for us as the ultimate sacrafice for our sins. And that the ony way to heaven is through jesus (i still dont really know what that means). So we talked a bit more and then said a prayer together and asked Jesus into our hearts...sorry i know anti climatic but I'm getting tired lol.

Sooooo I think we are Christians now? I still have so many doubts...but i have a bit of faith which, I have been told, is enough! It will grow as I read the bible and go to church.

My biggest fear is that my doubt will take over again one day and that I will stop beleiving. I hope and pray that doesn't happen.

So now I ask all of you...what do I do now?? We will look for a church that we like, starting this weekend. We are going to take an Alpha class in the fall so we can meet some other christians (we dont know any!) and we can learn more about the bible. But what do we need to do in everyday life? My husband is not as into this as I am. He is ok watching bad television shows and listening to bad music etc. I dont know what to do about that either...I dont want to watch the shows he does, and i dont want him to watch them either....things like that.

Where do I start reading the bible? Just start at the beginning? The OT brings many many problems and questions for me so maybe start with the NT?

Anyhow...that's my excitment for the night...well i guess really for all of eternity?! When you see me in chat, just so you know, I am kind of weirded out by all of this still. It is a big change, and I dont know how to act. I dont feel comfortable praying for other people, saying i love Jesus more than i love my family (just 2 things i came across tonight)...but I hope everything that is supposed to come will come with time.

I want to say thank you to you all for putting up with me....and continuing to put up wit hme and my millions of questions. There has been a ton of great listeners and people to suggest answers and places to look in the bible and help understanding it all. Thank you to you people...I am ever greatful.

The End  see you in chat!

P.S. sorry about the spelling mistakes in here, I proof read as best as I could and I dont know where the spell check is?

Congratulations on your salvation!!!!

God bless you sister! Please note that GOD and the angels in Heaven were LITERALLY dancing with joy for you because you accepted your Savior Jesus Christ!

Start reading the gospels is my recommendation. Even the OT is great but the Gospels is a great place to start. I suggest you find a non-denominational BIBLE-BASED church. Your new to it all so it may take some time to blend in and feel comfortable, no big deal.

You want to keep your faith strong:

Pray as much as you can, sincerely, genuinely and comfortably. Prayer is simply a converstation with GOD - precious nonetheless.

Read the Bible as much as you can. Daily.

Come to Talk Jesus and ask ALL your questions as you wish. We're here for you. No questions asked about the love and wisdom found here.

Praise GOD for this great moment in your life. You made the ultimate, greatest, most precious decision in your life right there.

Sit back and watch GOD perform great miracles and transform you to be like Jesus Christ.

God bless you sister!

That's wonderful news nicolek As chad has already said prayer is simply conversation with God. Talk with Him through the day when you can. Your faith will grow as you talk to God and read His Word. Proverbs 3 vs 5 and 6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths."

oh wow nicolek i love it when i hear that satan has lost another one. Amen sister. I don't think we have really met but all i can say has already been said by these kind people here. May God bless you nicolek. A scripture that comes to mind just now is

John11:40 Then jesus said "Did i not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?".

Nicolek you believe already and you will see the Glory of God. I hope to see you soon. Take care.

Krista,

Congratulations and welcome to the body of Christ

I am overjoyed at your decision to accept Christ and to welcome His love into your life. May He grace you with His peace and slowly but surely bring you and Jason greater and deeper understanding of His ways, culminating in life eternal in His house.

Mark 10:21
Jesus looked at him and loved him.

John 14:23
Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Romans 8:39
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 6:24
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.

1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

Jude 1:21
Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Amongst all this glorious testimony a phrase I noticed is “i need to help other people before they die”. even at this early stage of your walk with our Lord you have a blessing of insight that could be only given you by His Spirit. Take these blessings my friend, and walk the walk set before you, in trust and in love for the Lord has graced your life today and He will grace it even more.

God bless

PRAISE GOD....PRAISE GOD...PRAISE GOD!!!! Yes, I am shouting!!! Krista, we are so happy to welcome you & your husband to God's Family. Yes, hon, you are a Christian now. Some things to remember:

You may or may not feel "different" right away. Some people have instant conversions - for other's, it is more gradual. Things you used to delight in, you may find you no longer want to be a part of.

What God convicts you of may not be the same as other people. There are specifics things we as Christians should not do, but there are personal convictions that God gives to each of us. Key word is personal. Example: I used to love to look a secular women's magazines. Nothing wrong in that except that they tend to put women as the leader of the family & teach delegation of duties more than anything else. God convicted me of reading them on a regular basis. For other people, that isn't a problem, but it is for me. See where I'm coming from?

satan will try to put doubts in your mind. He knows he has lost you, but he still wants to try to steal the joy you will have from living for God. When you doubt, just praise God for what He has done for you. Don't worry about saying certain things just yet, the act of praise is enough to make the devil flee. Be sincere in your praise tho - count your blessings out loud.

Read God's Word. You already said you know that is necessary. Matthew, Mark, Luke & John are the gospels Chad spoke of. My favorite book is John & I frequently suggest people start reading there. John writes of Jesus in the personal sense & you tend to understand his gentleness more from John's writings. I love Psalms & Proverbs too. A good thing to do is read one Psalm & one Proverb daily along with other scripture. Don't be afraid to take notes in your Bible. Personalize it with your notes.

Last...we are all here & will help you with any questions you have. Never hesitate to ask. satan will want you to feel you are being a pest or burden, but that is not so. Learn early on to squash him & you will live a freer Christian life.

You are still a Christian Krista. The doubts you are having are normal...they just come sooner for some people & later for others.

When you said you aren't acting different, I think you answered your own question as to why. You said "what am I supposed to do?" One thing is to just relax. God isn't standing over you ready to cast you out of His family if you "fail". It doesn't work like that. He gives us a Guide...His Word. He also gives us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is here with us now; Jesus is at the Right Hand of the Father. Heaven is being prepared for us.

The Holy Spirit is the "little feeling" you sometimes get as to whether or not to do certain things or watch certain shows & talk a certain way. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman...He is never harsh. Lots of times Christians say "something just told me" or "I just felt like I should (or shouldn't)". Those are gentle nudges given by the Spirit to get us on track & keep us on track.

We have to be careful to never get used to them to the point of becoming complacent. Every time you even suspect God is telling you something, say "Thank You, Father". The more you fellowship with Him, the more He will be able to fellowship with you. He never stops, but sometimes we get the "busies" & don't pay attention. satan's voice is louder & pushy...that's why we hear him so much. We aren't tuned in to the soft & gentle.

Stay in God's Word..pray when the thought comes to mind to do so...& keep in touch with fellow believers. It's also important that you & your husband begin to pray together on a regular basis. The more time that lapses, the more "embarassed" you may become to pray together. Don't let that happen...defeat it before it starts.

And hey...tomorrow is Sunday!! Church!!! God is smiling on you Krista & the Angels are rejoicing!!!!

Praise, Honor, and Glory to the Lord God Almighty!!

First and foremost: AMEN!! Blessed be the Lord Our God, His steadfast Love endures Forever!! :thumbs_up  :note: :star: :thumbs_up

Continue to pray and read the word get into a Church, and speak with the Pastor, Many Pastors have excellent Programs for new Christians for study and answering questions, and Also to be Baptised, to share your new found Life and Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Publicly, it is very strengthening.

Satan is trying to use his old tactics on you, but remember you are now One Redeemed By Christ the Crucified and Risen Lord and Savior.

I hope this verses can be of some help to you.

1 Pet 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
1 Pet 4:13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.
1 Pet 4:14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Peace be with you,
Your Brother in Christ,
John

Well mabe this will hlp for me I repented(turned away from the bad life i was in)for my sins ,was baptized(water immersion)thus ending my old life, starting a new life as a newly begotten but more like adopted into, had hands laid on me to recieve the holy spirit................. but after all that I noticed no fireworks no feeling (that is purely carnal)any different.Just that my knowledge increased,I could understand and really crave to read scripture.
Oddly once someone told me not to be hard on myself. And I know why,Its because were warring against our carnal selves, the world and satan. And its up to us to trudge on.You will still fall flat on your face (sin, backslide)but dont be hard on yourself thinking you are not worthy to be forgiven, thats what satan wants you to do not to ask for forgiveness. And believe you me
I need forgiveness everyday.I hope this helps Remember its not a feeling its knowledge you never had before, its god himself convicting you of sin and showing you right from wrong according to him.You are a free moral agent, not a robot LET NO MAN TAKE YOUR CROWN,AND KEEP THE END IN MIND WITH YOUR CALLING. p.s. forgive even yourself and be patient

Dear Sister! How wonderful...You have discovered the most precious tresure ever: God's Love for you, and his Salvation for you!
You have displayed courage in taking that step and witnessing to your husband!
Do not let yourself be alarmed by doubts etc. those only come from the enemy, who is trying to destabilize you... Keep staedfast in prayer, and read the gospels and Romans, Ephesians, 1 +2 Corinthians... There is great encouragement for you there, as well as wisdom, and also advice on how to live your life, what to prioritise, etc...(And all the rest of the bible is great and full of wisdom, of course... but those books are a good place to start...)
Spiritually, you and your hubby newborn babies... in God's safe care. He teaches you and cares for you, he holds your hand... if you keep looking up to your Father in Heaven, and hold his hand firmly, you may stumble, but you won't fall !!! Your steps with God will become more assured and more confident with time... just keep the communication channels open (eg prayer and Bible)

If you don't understand some of the scripture, ask the lord to give you wisdom and understanding... he may do it directly, or through other christians...in bible-studies/ home-groups...
A good idea is to find a prayer partner: someone you trust and feel happy sharing with... someone you can pary with: you share what is bugging you, what is going well in your life, etc... and you partner then can pary aloud for + with you. You can pray in your head, and agree at the end... you will see that, with time, you will feel more hapy to say a few things loud in prayer, and later a bit more... It's perfectly normal to be shy about praying out loud at first :o)
As for your hubby's habits, he will find out for himself, through God's word and God's Spirit, what he needs to change...
So, sister, keep the faith! God Bless you both!

i'll pray for you :o)

Nickolek, it sounds as if you are on the right track. Just keep going and keep growing. As far as your husband's growth as a Christian, let me point out that each of us has our own special path to walk with God. We don't share that path with any other human. If Jason'
s prayer with you that night under the stars was sincere, he will grow as a Christian, but at a different pace than yours. He has to walk his own path with the Lord.

As to why we have to receive Jesus to be saved - We cannot reach God all by ourselves. I think it is in Isiah 55 that the Word says "As high as the sky is above the sea; so high are My ways above your ways and My thoughts above your thoughts." For us to have contact with Him, He had to take human form for about 34 years, come down to earth (Jesus), and pay for our sin Himself on the cross. Jesus is the "bridge" between us and God the Father.

How to start reading the Bible - Get an easy to read modern version of the Bible (NIV is the one I use). Start with the Gospel of John. It is centered on Christ's teachings. Then read the other three gospels. Next read the Epistles. After you read the Epistles, tackle the Old Testament starting with Genesis. The very last book of the Bible is Revelation. Save that one until you've read through the entire Bible up to that point. Revelation is pretty confusing, even to those of us who've been around awhile.

See you in Chat.
