Hello Brother.....

Anoint...Oil...etc and big subjects in scripture. You will find it quite easy to check the mention of this word throughout the bible. You will also learn a lot about the anointing, the Oil, and the Holy Spirit.

Have a word with your Pastor. I am sure he will be thrilled to talk and maybe pray some anointing upon you. Something we all need to serve Jesus.

Hoping this helps

To apply oil or ointment to the head or the person. Anciently anointing was done for reasons both secular and sacred. It is a sign of hospitality in Luke 7: 46, and of routine personal grooming in 2 Sam. 12: 20 and Matt. 6: 17. The maimed or sick were anointed with wine, oil, and/or ointment as medicine (Isa. 1: 6; Luke 10: 34; cf. Rev. 3: 18). The sick were also anointed with oil as part of the sacred procedure in healing of the sick by faith and the laying on of hands (Mark 6: 13; James 5: 14-15).

Kings were anointed to their office by the prophets (1 Sam. 10: 1; 1 Sam. 16: 13; 2 Sam. 5: 3; 1 Kgs. 1: 39; 1 Kgs. 19: 16; 2 Kgs. 9: 3, 6; 2 Kgs. 11: 12; 1 Chr. 11: 3; 1 Chr. 29: 22; 2 Chr. 23: 11). The anointing of the priests is outlined in Ex. 40: 15; of the high priest (Aaronic order) in Lev. 21: 10. Elisha was to be anointed a prophet by Elijah (1 Kgs. 19: 16).

The holy anointing oil used in the law of Moses was composed of olive oil mixed with spices and was to be restricted in use to certain specified ceremonies (Ex. 30: 22-33; Ex. 37: 29). Paul and John speak of an anointing of the Spirit (2 Cor. 1: 21-22; 1 Jn. 2: 20, 27), and Peter says that “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power” (Acts 10: 38).

In the Church today holy consecrated olive oil is used in anointing persons in various sacred ceremonies, including administration to the sick. Although the scriptures do not specifically so state, we may confidently assume that anointing with oil has been part of true, revealed religion ever since the gospel was first introduced on this earth to Adam.
If not I'll try to clarify it better for you.

Anoint

The practice of Anointing with perfumeed oil wsa common among the Hebrews. It was significant of consecration to a HOLY or sacred use; High Preist, Vessels, Kings. For Kings it was equivilent to being crowned, Prophets were also anointed. The expression "Anoint the Sheild" refers to rubbing oil on the leather of the sheild so as to make it supple & fit for use in war. It was also an act of Hospitality, 7 it was the custom of the Jews to anoint themselves with oil as a means of refreshing themselves & that custom remains today among Arabs invigorating their bodies. Oil was also used for medicinal purposes applied to the sick or wounded. The bodies of the dead were sometimes anointed.
The promised deliverer, is twice called the Anointed because he was anointed with the HOLY GHOST.ISA.61:1 Figuratively styled the "The OIL of Gladness" Ps.45:7, HEB.1:9.

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power” (Acts 10: 38

If you exchange the word anointed with blessed, the sentence carries the same meaning.

When people say " I can feel the anointing on your life ", they are basically
saying they can tesfiy that you have a gift or gifts of Holy Spirit within you.

No they're not talking about oil on you, but its a blessing upon your life.

Taken from our online glossary here on TJ.

Anoint

The practice of anointing with perfumed Oil was common among the Hebrews. (1.) The act of anointing was significant of consecration to a holy or sacred use; hence the anointing of the high priest (Ex. 29:29; Lev. 4:3) and of the sacred vessels (Ex. 30:26). The high priest and the king are thus called "the anointed" (Lev. 4:3, 5, 16; 6:20; Ps. 132:10). Anointing a king was equivalent to crowning him (1 Sam. 16:13; 2 Sam. 2:4, etc.). Prophets were also anointed (1 Kings 19:16; 1 Chr. 16:22; Ps. 105:15). The expression, "anoint the shield" (Isa. 21:5), refers to the custom of rubbing oil on the leather of the shield so as to make it supple and fit for use in war.

(2.) Anointing was also an act of hospitality (Luke 7:38, 46). It was the custom of the Jews in like manner to anoint themselves with oil, as a means of refreshing or invigorating their bodies (Deut. 28:40; Ruth 3:3; 2 Sam. 14:2; Ps. 104:15, etc.). This custom is continued among the Arabians to the present day.

(3.) Oil was used also for medicinal purposes. It was applied to the sick, and also to wounds (Ps. 109:18; Isa. 1:6; Mark 6:13; James 5:14).

(4.) The bodies of the dead were sometimes anointed (Mark 14:8; Luke 23:56).

(5.) The promised Deliverer is twice called the "Anointed" or Messiah (Ps. 2:2; Dan. 9:25, 26), because he was anointed with the Holy Ghost (Isa. 61:1), figuratively styled the "oil of gladness" (Ps. 45:7; Heb. 1:9). Jesus of Nazareth is this anointed One (John 1:41; Acts 9:22; 17:2, 3; 18:5, 28), the Messiah of the Old Testament.

If you want to substitute words, I think it would be more approprite to but ordained or appointted instead of blessed. We are all blessed in many ways, even the heathen believe it or not

Power and the Holy Spirit is something received, as oil is received, as blessing is received.

Thats why its so easy for me to say bless, because whatever comes from God is a blessing.

Appoint and ordain seem more connected with positions rather than applications

When God blesses you, he uses you and appoints you.

God knows the future, he also knows all our weaknesses.

God bless me with a great singing voice, I've made mistakes in my life.
But during my stay or time in darkness, it was my voice my songs of worship that reunited me with the father. Even though I walked away from him, I could still sing.

You see our blessings are reminders that he is with us.
Look at your blessings, and realise all the father has done for you.
Now all he wants from us when we fall is to get back up and continue the walk faithfully.

Admit your sin, repent and go sin no more.

If you start feeding that sin, you become a slave to it.
As Christians we have one master and thats God, he alone should control our lives not sin
