"I Am He"

The purpose of this post is to give many Bible believing Christians a long awaited insight into the person of Jesus, and refresh the memories of what many once new about him.

See we have always known that Jesus is God, the one true God; the one who came and died for the sins of the world, but we just didn't know how to say it. What I am saying is, back in the 30's, 40's and 50's almost everyone I knew would say this truth. The problem was, they did not know how to put it into words. But now we do. But even today, after almost 2000 years, hardly anyone believes it.

So let's look at one Scripture from the writings of David and sew what they knew. He said in Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation." But Paul, who was very familiar with the Psalms, said in Romans 10:9 that Jesus is the Lord David is talking about. And that's what the name Jesus means: salvation or the Lord is my salvation. It can also be translated "The God who saves."

See David is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ long before it took place: that the Lord he knew as YHWH God in the Old Testament is the New Testament Jesus, the same one who gives us salvation and the one we Christians name ourselves after.

A famous song writer says it best:
When on the cross of Calvary the Lord was crucified
The Mob stood about him and mocked until he died.
Two thieves were nailed besides him to share the agony.
But one of them cried out to him O Lord remember me.

O what a shame to kill him there on that rugged cross,
but such a death was needed to rescue all the lost.
His blood was a ransom to set the captive free,
I know that I am included and that's enough for me.

See God didn't send a substitute as many think. And where they got this from I do not know. The Bible teaches
d that He came himself. And he called himself the Son or the Son of God to account for his human birth, or to show that he was human too. He said it this way in Zechariah 12: 9,10:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for me, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for me, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem. .... King James Version (KJV)
See there is only one being called God. (Deut 6) If this is not so we are claiming that God is polythestic and this cannot be so. And that Abraham and the prophets too worshiped more than one God, as the nations around them did. The confusion come when we see references to the Father and the Holy Spirit as Jesus speaks about himself. These are his other two names. He is introducing them to us so we an see the full extent of his love. As Jesus said in John 10:30, "The Father and I are the same me." And the same is true of The Holy Spirit.
So we call him Jesus in obedience to what God himself said in Isaiah 43:10-11:
"You are my witnesses, declares the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe that I am he: besides me there is no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord Jesus; and beside me there is no saviour.
But as I said, even today hardly anyone believed this truth. So all I ask is that you give it your condideration, even if you disagree. And let Jesus lead us back to the simple truth of Christ we once knew of him and to the faith once delivered to us as believers in Christ Jesus.

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

The Book of Matthew declares in Matthew 13:34-35: "Jesus always used stories or parables when he spoke to the people. In fact, he never spoke to them without using parables. This fulfilled the prophecy that said: "I will speak to you in parables. I will explain mysteries hidden since the creation of the world."

And this is what we see taking place in these verses as Jesus speaks to us, his people, of himself. I will summarize it for you.


See in the Old Days when they asked YHWH God how he delivered his peoplenfrom slavery in Egypt he said that he did it by my Strong Right Hand. For example he says in Ex. 15:6: "Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy Right Hand, O Lord, hath dashged in pieces thy enemy." Psalm 77:60 states: "And I said this in my infirmity; but I will remember the Right Hand of the Most High."

As all good Christians know, Jesus always speaks to us in parables. Matthew 13:34-35 states: "Jesus always used parables or illustrations when he spoke to the people. In fact, he never spoke to the people with using them. This fulfilled the prophecy that said: "I will speak to you in parables. I will explain mysteries hidden from the creation of the world."

And this is what wee see Jesus doing in the verses quoted above. He is telling us who he is in parabolic form.

See in the Old Days when they asked YHWH God how he freed his children from slavery he said that he did it by His Strong Right Hand. For example he said in EX. 15:6: "Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy Right Hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces thy enemy. Ps 77:10 states: "And I said this in my infirmity; but I will remember the Right Hand of the Most High." That is, if he remembers God's Right Hand, it is the same as remembering God.

And since what your Right Hand do you do. "At God's Right Hand was Jesus' parabolic way of saying he was YHWH God. That's why the High Priest got angry at him and condemned him to death!

I think you have raised an interesting topic brother, one that needs to be shared perhaps in more detail as you have time.

I agree with what you say but, I think it would be sad to just leave it where it is now as I am sure some will no doubt have questions and I always believe most statements usually need further clarification

We believe in the Triune God, One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We believe in one God who is revealed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost which makes up the blessed Trinity

Let us look, if we may, at a few scripture verses that may raise questions in the hearts of Saved believers.

Matthew 3:13-17 (NKJV)
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.
14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?"
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him.
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

1 John 5:6-8 (NKJV)
6 This is He who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

The Bible, God's Word speaks of God as Father

It also confirms Jesus as God

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

It also confirms the Holy Spirit as God

Acts 5:3-4 (NKJV)
3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

Three distinct people, One God

God gave His Son.

John 3:16-21 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

I love these verses, (and this Gospel),I know you do too brother, hence the reason I have left this scripture until last.

Here Jesus was WITH God, and Jesus WAS God

1 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

So we have here a few scripture verses which agree with One God, as three distinct people.

It is right therefore to believe, God the Father is God, God the Son (Jesus) is God, God the Holy Spirit is God.

What I am saying, I think, though maybe without clarity, very probably, is could you continue from your first statement and looking at scripture that can show differences in understanding, some are listed above, and put them to all readers on here in a way that lets the Light shine from them. For me, I find some things harder to explain than to absorb, we have to take these things in before we can give them out to others, but putting into words after can be harder, you said in your first post in the thread Rev. 'but we just didn't know how to say it '.

As I said earlier, Jesus always speaks to us in parables. However as he is speaking in parables, he often makes a plain language statement to make clear what he is saying. And such is the case here. That is to say, on many ocassions he has said in plain words that he is God:

John 1:1: "In the beginning was Jesus ... and he was God"

Philippians 2:6: "Though he was God, he did not cling to his rights as God. ..."

John 20:28: "Thomas said, 'My Lord and my God.'"

So here is the rule: Once you see a plain language statement saying that Jesus is God, never try to change it's meaning no matter what you think an unclear statement is saying. What I am saying is, the unclear statements are made plain by what the plain language statements are saying.

Now let's look at John 3:16 and see what Jesus is saying:

Jesus has already said he is God, i.e., ".. and he was God." So this is Jesus talking about himself as he came in human flesh to save us from eternal death." Meaning that as God he loves us so much that he came calling himself by his Psalm 2 title, "the Son of God" to die in our place, something that only a loving God ( "My Lord and my God") would do. As he said as YHWH God in Zechariah 13:10: "....They will look upon me whom they have pierced and mourn for me as an only son. ..."

And as YHWH God said in Hosea 13:4, "I alone am God, your Lord, and have been since I brought you out of Egypt. You have no God but me, for there is no other Savior. O Israel I will come and save you."

And as for the parabolic part of John 1:1, "... he was with God." This is saying that God came to the earth as a man looking just like us. And as we know all persons have names. So God's other two names are the Father and the Holy Spirit. This is what be means when he tells us to baptize people in his name, i.e., in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

But we call him by the name he used on the cross simply because he wants us to.

The answer to this question cannot be said in only a few words so bear with me:


Jesus' Baptism: What Took Place

In his manifested state, God always appears to us as a single person, Jesus. So when the Bible tells us that God is one, it means just what it says; one person. What I am saying is, we are made in God's image and we are one person. So in addition to him as Jesus, his other two names are the Father, and the Holy Spirit. This is what Jesus is saying when he tells us to baptize people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19)

As evidence of this, let's look at the baptism of Jesus in Matthew 3 and you will see what I mean:

"Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John didn't want to baptize him. 'I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,' he said, 'so why are you coming to me?'"

See, John was very familiar with the Scriptures, especially the one in Isaiah 9:6 that gives Jesus the title, "The mighty God." And the one in Zechariah 13:10 where YHWH God says of himself: "They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for me as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for me as for a firstborn son who has died." And this was influencing him now.

But sadly, even today most Bible believing Christians simply do not believe this.

But Jesus said to John, "It must be so, because we must do everything that is right." That is to say, "It must be so because I am the one you read about in the Scriptures, and my baptism will prove it."

So after his baptism as Jesus came up out of the water, "... the heavens were opened and he saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove and settling upon him." This is a glimpse of himself by his other name as he inspires us to believe in him as Jesus, i.e., "... he will tell you about me." (John 15:26)

But before I go on I must say this:

We must understand that God has all power. "And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, 'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Now go and make disciples of all nations.'" And that he can do anything he wants to do. In other words, when God manifested himself on earth as a single man, at the same time he was still the all powerful God who ruled the universe.

How he does this, I do not know. But he does. According to the Gospels it's just a testimony to his mighty power.

So let's go on.

So in verse 17 we read: "And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.'" This is Jesus
talking about himself. He is saying yes I have come in human flesh as the Savior of the world, and I will call myself "the Son of God.", the title I chose for myself in Psalm 2. And This will explain my human body to an unbelieving world."

The Samaritans in John 4 agreed with this when they said to the woman, "Now we believe because we heard him ourselves, not just because of what you told us. As the Scriptures say, he is indeed the Savior of the world."

And that's how Jesus is God!

Let's conclude:

See, God speaks to us only as Jesus. As he said of the Father in John 5:37:, "... You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face. ..." Translated: "I have never spoken to you as the Father and I never will."

But as I said earlier, very few people in the Christian world believe this!

So let's summarize: God has always spoken to us as Jesus. In fact, the entire Bible is Jesus' words. But he also wants us to know him by his other two names, the Father and the Holy Spirit, too. That is to say, when he speaks of the Father and the Holy Spirit he is speaking about himself as he decides his affairs and as he inspires us to believe in him as Jesus. This is so we can see the full extent of his love for us.

And this will be true even after we get to heaven.

I answered this question ("He was with God") before but now I will answer it again. This is a parabolic expression saying that the one God has two other names besides Jesus: the Father and the Holy Spirit. We see this plainly when Paul asked God his name. He replied, "Jesus." And too, the angel said to Joseph, "... and you shall call his name ( God's name ) Jesus. ..." (Matthew 1:21)

So what we see throughout the four Gospels is God revealing to us his other names ( the Father and the Holy Spirit ) so we can understand him better and so we can see the full extent of his love for us. This way we can have a personal relationship with us as we relate to him as Jesus.

But as I said, even today hardly anyone believed this truth. So all I ask is that you give it your condideration, even if you disagree. And let Jesus lead us back to the simple truth of Christ we once knew of him and to the faith once delivered to us as believers in Christ Jesus.

It is true Jesus spoke in parables, but right now after hie resurrection he speaks to us "plainly"! The reason why that was is because understanding has nothing to do with mans physical mind in his head, it can only be understood by the re-birth human spirit where the "mind of Christ" dwells.

Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Joh 16:25 I have told you these things in parables (veiled language, allegories, dark sayings); the hour is now coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but I shall tell you about the Father in plain words and openly (without reserve). (AMP)

Jesus is God, but Jesus is NOT God the Father, neither is the Holy Spirit Jesus, yet they together are "one" God. Man is one person, but made up of three separate parts. Spirit ,Soul, and body. My body is not my spirit, neither is my soul, my body. Jesus Christ is God's body in which all of the Godhead dwells!

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

We are "complete in him"!!! You can not get any more personal than that!

Modalism is a false teaching. It's really even a false God.

God isn't one being with three names.
God is three beings. Yet those three beings are one God.

Matt 10:32; "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.
Matt 10:33; "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

Jesus makes it clear He doesn't deny these people before Himself, but before "My Father".
Jesus prayed to His Father.

Matt 11:25; At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.
Matt 11:26; "Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.

Jesus wasn't having a conversation with Himself. He was talking to His Father.

Matt 26:39; And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."
Matt 26:42; He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done."
Luke 22:42; saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."

Jesus said "not My will"... but "Your will be done". One person doesn't have two different wills that conflict.
When Jesus returns...

Mark 13:32; "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

The Son doesn't know... but The Father knows. Jesus isn't a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde that changes into werewolf at the full moon.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

When Jesus was baptized, a voice came down from heaven.
Matt 3:17; and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."
Matt 17:5; While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!"
Mark 1:11; and a voice came out of the heavens: "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."
Luke 3:22; and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."

Jesus wasn't being a ventriloquist here trying to fool people. It was the voice of the Father coming down from heaven where Jesus was.
The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form. It wasn't one person with two bodies.

Gal 1:1; Paul, an apostle (not sent from men nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead),

Jesus didn't raise Himself from the dead (how could He if He was dead). but the Father raised Him from the dead.

Modalism is a very dangerous teaching.

..and yet, people did hear the voice of the Father... while Jesus was right there with them.

Jesus always points us to the Father in Heaven
Jesus is the bridge from Earth to Heaven
The narrow road to the Father is found by first coming to the Cross
We can turn left or right on the wider roads or we can go straight ahead to Jesus,

Jesus is the Way to the Father,
The Spirit enables God's will through Jesus,
We are invited to come to the Father, through Jesus,
Along that narrow road and over the bridge, through Jesus, to Eternal Life.

Certainly a dead body can not raise itself up, but the spirit being that was once inside could if its name is Jesus Christ, God the father, and the Holy Spirit which together are God.
