I believe this is the third year running that I’ve gone with posting Daily Devotionals from the Daily Wisdom books. Normally I would give credit to each writer on each devotional if they noted who actually wrote them! It’s a mix of different writers, and I can say they have been a blessing to me and is the reason I share them here with you. Praying that they also may bless you in opening up God’s Word as a consideration for growth in your life throughout each day and the upcoming year.

God bless you as each day brings us closer to our first love’s return!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Blessed [is] the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV

What if you were to begin this new year with this simple question: What do I delight in? According to Psalm 1, your delight plays a major part in determining your destiny for this coming year.

If you keep company with those who mock what is good, who indulge their every craving, or who live their lives in opposition to God’s goodness, then you will find yourself far from God and from God’s blessing. Such company is unstable and blows along with the latest winds of desire. There is no root or depth, as life is consumed with the moment, leaving tomorrow hanging in the uncertainty of the wind.

Conversely, if you delight in the teachings of the Lord and keep them on your mind, you have firm roots that offer stability and the blessing of God. You’ll find a secure place to face the highs and lows of life as they unfold in the coming year.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see the wisdom of delighting in Your Word at the beginning and end of each day.
