Though many feel that when they "accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior", that they now are "saved". However, what Jesus said, readjusted this thinking, for upon providing features of the "sign of his presence" (Matt 24:3, "presence", Greek pa·rou·si´a) that began when he was enthroned as king in 1914, said that "because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved."(Matt 24:12, 13)

Thus, only those who ' endure to the end (of this wicked system of things) in loyalty to God will be saved.' In addition, the Bible does not speak of ' walking with Jesus'. Rather we have an account of Noah, whereby Genesis 6:9 says that "Noah was a righteous man. He proved himself faultless among his contemporaries. Noah walked with the true God." Hence, Noah "walked with the true God" until his death at 950 years of age.(Gen 9:29)

Later Jacob, when on his deathbed, said of his father and grandfather: "The true God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the true God who has been shepherding me during all my existence until this day."(Gen 48:15) Jacob thus "walked (with) the true God" just as his grandfather Abraham and father Isaac had done.

Of Zechariah and Elizabeth, parents of John the Baptist, Luke 1:6 says that "they both were righteous before God because of walking blamelessly in accord with all the commandments and legal requirements of Jehovah."

These followed the examples of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in having "walked with the true God." Jesus himself "walked with the true God, " for at 1 Peter 2:21-23, Peter wrote that "In fact, to this course you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving you a model for you to follow his steps closely. He committed no sin, nor was deception found in his mouth. When he was being reviled, he did not go reviling in return. When he was suffering, he did not go threatening, but kept on committing himself to the one who judges righteously."

In answering a question of why he was so knowledgeable on the Scriptures, Jesus told the Jews: "What I teach is not mine, but belongs to him that sent me. If anyone desires to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching whether it is from God or I speak of my own originality."(John 7:16, 17) Furthermore, not long afterwards, he again told the Jews: "I have not come of my own initiative, but he that sent me is real, and you do not know him. I know him, because I am a representative from him, and that One sent me forth.” (John 7:28, 29)

In speaking with the woman at the well in Samaria, Jesus told her: "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know....Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him."(John 4:22, 23) Thus, Jesus taught everyone how to ' walk with the true God', by telling the Samaritian woman to worship the Father, Jehovah God, in which he included himself in worshipping the Father.

Hence, a person can build a precious relationship with God by following Jesus perfect example of ' walking with the true God '. The apostle Paul wrote: "In the days of his flesh [Christ] offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear."(Heb 5:7) Jesus "offered up supplications and also petitions to the One", Jehovah God, "who was able to save him out of death." In order to build a treasured relationship with God, we also have to ' offer up supplications and also petitions to the who is able to save us out of death', Jehovah God.(Isa 25:7, 8; Ps 65:2)

Jesus is God. He did not invisibly return in 1914 and the lies of the watchtower will not help anyone have a closer relationship with Him.

To get closer to God do has Mary did in the bible .She sat at Jesus feet. And Jesus commended her and said she had chosen the good part.
To draw close to Jesus we can pray, read his word and walk in obedience to his word.

The fact that there is no zero year was "forgotten" when some events happened in 1914. In 1943 the idea that had been promoted in SiS7, namely to move Jerusalem's destruction from 606 to 607BC, was officially adopted (The fact that Jerusalem according to Bible chronology fell in 587BC does not interfere with Watchtower chronology.)

Based on Ezek 40:1, which dates a certain prophetic message to "the fourteenth year after the city was conquered", Rutherford added 14 years to 1918 to get 1932. See SiS7 p569. Later printings and translations of this book seems to have brought the realization that to get to the 14th year one adds 13, not 14, so the prophecy was changed to point to 1931.
Silently abandoned after the other prophecies, notably 1918 and 1925, failed to be fulfilled.



1935
Close of "high calling" to be of the 144.000. From this date, JWs have taught that the "great Company/Crowd" in Rev 7 will live on Earth, not in heaven. The "Great Crowd", all JWs except ~8000 living now, is not considered anointed Christians, is not "born again," do not partake in communion and does not have Christ as mediator. They expect eternal life on Earth. See WT 6/15 1992 p23; Proclaimers (1993) p166. This date is justified only on the fact that the doctrine about earthly hope for "great crowd" was created in 1935.
