How to find peace?

When we trust God and love Him we find peace. Trust in God takes away fear and anxiety, because, we are sure that in the end God will make everything right in our life. Even when events in our life are not going well, we will still have an inner peace, because, we will realize that in order for us to mature and get strong God may not grant our favors immediately. When we love God, we will also love all His children. We will, therefore, find it easy to forgive and reconcile with others. Furthermore, we would want to live a life similar to God’s. We would therefore, be willing to not only forgive our offenders but also be willing risk our own life in the process of helping them.

In order to love and trust God we need to know Him. We can know Him by listening to His voice deep in our heart. It is the voice of love and compassion which we often hear but ignore. To hear His voice, we must block off all other noises in our life. We must, therefore, be still and meditate on His love and sacrifice. We must, find as much time as possible each day to do this, because, it brings life, peace and joy to our life. In addition, when we do this, we are opening our heart to the God, who is reaching out to us.

Most of us try very hard to control our own life; so that when events in our life do not go the way we want them to go we get frustrated and angry. However, if we take a pause and think, we will realize that our control of our life is very superficial, because, there are so many things over which, we have absolutely no control. For example, even if we try to maintain a perfect health, we can still get suddenly incapacitated by traumatic injuries or catastrophic illness. We should, therefore, relax and give complete control of our life to God. We can do this by doing His will (which is to love and serve others) and accepting in our heart what ever He wants to happen in our life.
 
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and his rfighteousness and everything you need will be given to you." (Mt 6:33 paraphrased)

Relationship with God is not about giving to God so that we receive from him (as a payback), it's about giving to him; loving him, blessing him, honoring him, and nothing else.

When we do that, we are lifted out of the sphere of self centeredness and neediness and we move further into the sphere of Godliness where his presence and, therefore, his grace are more abundantly experienced and our real needs (as opposed to the wants we think we need) are met. That's how we find peace.

The bottom line is this; it should never be about us, it should always be about Him.

Romans 5

Peace and Joy

1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

John 14.

6But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

And the God of peace will be with you.

By their fruit you will know them.

Gal.5.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

The reason we live is to worship God.

There are so many scriptures which have the word 'peace' in them

Although there are numerous verses in the Bible that mention peace, while reading this thread I thought about a slogan I have seen on bumper stickers. It is so true, and I really don't know how anyone finds peace without Jesus. I might have it backwards, but the message remains the same either way you read it.

Know Jesus, Know Peace
No Jesus, No Peace
