I was reading an article regarding a New Age Movement taking place in this country. The article quote Luke 21 7-8. for the example, saying that you will know we are living in the End times when people start claiming they are gods by saying "I AM" Verse 8 says for many will come in my name claiming, (I AM, I AM He, I Am the One, I Am Christ). I compared this verse with different translations, and came up with these different names.

I understand what the Author is saying, and he is correct, that many in this movement are claiming that the power is found within us all, that we are all god that we are all apart of this cosmic whatever. But by using Luke 21: 7- 8, is this author correctly using this verse to make his argument regarding this movement. Where would you go to find the original translation since we do not original manuscripts.

Thank You

I'm wondering, are you trying to determine if we truly are in the last days? There are numerous signs that this is the case, including what you mentioned but also some other signs
1. There will be a great apostasy from the truth 2 Thess 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1-3
2. People will become selfish and Mockers of the truth 2 Timothy 3:1-7
3. False teachers will arise 2 Peter 2:1-3; Matthew 24:11
4. people's love will grow cold towards each other Matthew 24:12

So if you take into account the news and events around you and the world that we live in it appears that the Lord could come back at any moment. So then, what kind of people should we be.
"Be on the alert" Matthew 24:42

No, I believe we are in the last days. I am wonder if the author of this article I was reading was using the scripture in an improper way. And I was wondering if, there was a way to check how the original verse read. Was Christ, He, the One, inserted and does it actually just use the two words God used in the Old Testament "I Am".

Try using a Interlinear Study Guide to look up the original language. There are several online you can just google Interlinear Bible study and you will find a few. It is a good tool to use for those of us who haven't studied the original language.

I would have to agree that in the End Times many will claim to be the way, specifically when the final Anti Christ comes maintaining he is the Messiah.

The self help and new age movement I believe you are referring to could certainly allude to the many claiming to be the way.

Oprah Winfrey is quite possibly the most influential woman in the world, and has a lot of pull with a lot of people, women as well as men contrary to popular belief. She, as you can see by googling, or better yet youtubing her, has said that there are more ways to heaven than through Christ, completely contradicting the Bible, and also saying that Jesus did not come to die for us, but simply show us how to live, or some mumble like that. The "Gospel of Oprah" is just one (obvious) example.

I know having met Him. There is a saying 'an ounce of experience is worth a ton of theory'

Folks who speak as you suggest have never had an encounter with Jesus. He who said "Seek and you will find, Ask and it will be given, Knock and it will be opened."

So simple to have an encounter with Him.......Sad that folks do not have the time to 'Ask'Seek''Knock' re His instruction. Folks today would rather do other things.....

Jesus cried out "If any man thirst let him com to me and drink"

Heartbreaking that folks such as you mention are prepared to do almost anything....rather than Ask,Seek,Knock,Drink. They must be thirsty to invent a broken cistern, an empty well.

I drink from that fountain daily......

The new age movement is really just an old age movement revisited. There have always been false messiahs and will continue to be so until Christ Himself comes back to rule and reign.
