Hi all

How is everyone?

If you have time i wonder if you can help me. im off out now but can check my messages tommorow

ive been away for a while, but im back and desperatly need some help. As you know in the past I have suffered terribly with thoughts about the mark of the beast etc. Lately all that had gone, thanks to god, jesus and people on this board -

It got to the stage where i had read so much about it that i was really panicking. I thought for a while that maybe even going to church on a sunday might be the mark. What got me through was various passages in the bible ( jerimiah 17:10 being one ) that god looks at the mind and heart when judging people. From this i carried on as i felt that even if going to church on sunday was the mark, i had read so many differing views that i didnt know what to belive, and that god would understand this and know that i didnt know what was right and when i do thats when he would judge me on that. To that point i havent been to church for a bit, but will again very soon. im not really writing today about the mark as such, and im not wanting to discuss whether it is sunday worship or not - it probaly isnt so dont anyone feel worried, and apologies if i offend anyone

However when reading the bible today i have come across the verse

" My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." Hosea 4:6."

This is very worrying if god will allow people to be destroyed for a lack of knowledge and kind of contradicts jereimah 17:10

" 10 "I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve."

I wonder, and it would help me so much in this difficult time if you could clear up what Hosea 4:6 means. Do i have anything to worry about? even if the mark was going to church on sunday ( which i doubt ) god would surely know and judge me on my knowledege - and at the moment i am confused!

a while ago i asked a question on got questions, and this was very helpful

" Answer: If a person was raised in some primitive tribe and taught that it is good to kill people from another tribe...would that make it right for him to murder? Of course not. A sin is a sin whether you know it is a sin or not. A sin is a sin even if you have been taught that it is not a sin your entire life. However, God understands and knows our hearts. He judges us according to our knowledge. A person who sins knowing that it is a sin will be judged more severely than a person who sins not knowing that it is a sin."

so what should i make of hosea 4:6? i guess im getting the wrong end of the stick?!

Thanks- apologies for not posting much recently, ive been reading the bible but felt best to stay away from the net for a bit. Please be gentle, i hope this isnt too crazy for you all! like i say ive been away but thats because when reading some things it sets me off, but its good to be back!

God Bless

David

Hi Slim, good to see you back with us.

Let me tell you that regarding the biblical passage you quote....you do not have to worry. Regarding the Mark of the Beast, you do not have to worry. If you know Jesus as your Saviour you will not be here at the Mark of the Beast period.....as I see it.

I notice that you are in London....I would suggest that you get yourself into one of the good churches there. What about 'Hillsongs' which I believe meet in the Mermaid Theatre two or three times on Sundays. Or Kensington temple.

I would love to hear that you are getting blessed brother.

Hi stephen

Thanks for replying to me, its much appreciated. I will take your advice on the churches in London - Thankyou. Its good to know i havent got to worry, and like i say im not so worried about the mark, and if anyone else does/could reply Im not looking for oponions on it. If anyone has a bible study could they give me their advice on the verse from Hosea, just so I can put this thing to bed.. it is a confusing verse!!

God Bless

David

This is God Almighty setting out through His prophet Hosea, the case against Israel at that time.

Shake off your guilt complex brother David and get into the blessings of knowing Jesus, wherein all these past judgements have been satisfied, or done away with.

Amen??

Stephen, thankyou so much for clearing that up. its a great, great help

just one thing when reading the bible i guess its not wise to get frightend at everthing and think the worst! for instance - when i was worried about things in the past i was told to read romans 14,

the verse at the end

" 23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin"

when it says damned or condmened i think it means if you dont repent? because God will forgive anything if you repent?

what do you think

Thanks again, you are a real friend

God Bless

Hi Slim,

It seems to me that the answer is actually in the verse. In Hosea they are being destroyed because they chose to reject the knowledge of God. They chose to ignore the truth that was readily available so they could live as they wanted.

Jeremiah is saying that God doesn't judge solely on the external works, but looks at a person's "heart" or intensions.

Example: For days I have a bad tooth that hurts terribly. Joe Schmo comes along and feels sorry for me, and with a pair of pliers helps pull my bad tooth but in the process inflicts major pain upon me. Now to the passerby it would look like Joe is a cruel man who walks around inflicting pain on people by pulling teeth with his pliers, however, in truth, his heart intension was to help relieve me of pain.

He had a good heart with poor knowledge.

In Hosea he is saying that they have rejected truth because of bad hearts. This is majorly bad because God had chosen to reveal Himself to the world through the Jews.

Another scripture of interest on the subject would be in James.
James 4:17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

I have heard it said that there are two sources (reasons) for pain and suffering in the world.
1) ignorance
2) wickness of heart

Only changing one or the other doesn't help, God wants to transform both our heads and our hearts!

Hope these thoughts help,

gbu!

Hi David, how are things with you today?

I do not know why you were encouraged to read Rom.ch 14.....The book of Romans is a book about Doctrine. Written to Jews and teaching that religion has no value. It is all about Jesus

I note that you have picked up on to verse 23. Why did you not relate to verse 17 in that chapter? "The kingdom of God is not meat or drink......but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost"

You take passages out of context. You need to keep scripture in context to get, understand, what is being conveyed.

Gopd Bless You
