Honey, will you marry... Oh. Never mind...

LONDON (Reuters) - It is the one moment every man wants to get right -- and which London floor-fitter Lefkos Hajji could hardly have got more wrong.

The luckless 28 year-old's dreams of giving his sweetheart, Leanne, 26, the ultimate proposal have literally vanished into thin air.

Hajji, of Hackney, east London, had concealed a $12,000 engagement ring inside a helium balloon. The idea was that she would pop the balloon as he popped the question.

But as he left the shop, a gust of wind pulled the balloon from his hand and he watched the ring -- and quite possibly the affections of his girlfriend -- sailing away over the rooftops.

"I couldn't believe it," he told The Sun newspaper.

"I just watched as it went further and further into the air.

"I felt like such a fool. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me."

Hajji spent two hours in his car trying to chase and find the balloon, without success.

"I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he said.

"But I had to tell her the story -- she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring."

He is hoping the ring will still turn up.

"It would be amazing if someone found it," he added.

This guy should marry me, its the thought that counts. It's not her money and she demands a second ring.

Hey I'm not judging...but some more gratitude should be shown to this guy.
The poor dude just watch $12,000 , fly away.

Was this a drastic sign from God... " do not marry her "
I'm praying that this guy gets a reality check....

I feel sorry for the man, i wish i could help. On the other hand, i understand that Leanne was maybe expectant of the ring, and can be disappointed but she hast shown love and maturity, reason being that he is mad with Hajji to a point that she doesnt want to speak to him....Looo!....

I wonder how they can relate in Marriage if she can be mad to that point....So does it mean that unless Hajji finds the ring thats when Leanne will speak to her? Anyway wish them all the best.

I agree with you, and also wish them the best....
She's such a lucky girl, I hope she can put her emotions aside ring or no ring.
His gesture was so sweet and romantic...the poor thing.

ooo I also pray, that if anyone finds this ring..hopefully knows the story and returns it..

Leanne should have considered the fact that Hajji bought that wonderful precious ring for her, means so much. That alone to me means the person loves and appreciates me, and he's willing to spend whatever it takes to make me happy! infact if i was in Leannes shoes ,i would be the one comforting Hajji, for his love actions towards me which never came to pass....and the fact that he's lost so much money just because he thought of me. Now thats love....

Yes that's love...ooh boy, I think I'm getting teary eyed

A thought came to me concerning the above story connecting it with how we christians relate to God.

Many are times when some we Love, Appreciate and Worship God for what He's done and not who He is. God has blessed you with a job, wife/husband, bussiness thats when you praise Him the most but when things go down the hill ie no job, prayers take long to be answeres, broken hearted etc thats when God gets less praise, adoration and glory....

This is simply what am saying, Like Leanne, she wont talk to her fiance unless she gets the valuable ring...some believers wont give God the glory due unless God performs that miracle....God have mercy.

He's God....Almighty God, with or without our praise...and that's His nature.

Wow...that was deep and so true.

We need to praise God in our storms.
Yes we are humans with emotions, but we forget who we serve.
We fall into.." I, me, my " mode, self pity, I hate my life.everyone is against me.

Forgetting
He's God....Almighty God, with or without our praise...and that's His nature.

God is good.

Let's pray the ring falls somewhere where she is able to find it.
... And that they would be both saved.
Maybe God can send some brother to talk to her and who says he will pray and the ring, well it has already fallen but you know, Jesus does the miracles I dont have to think so much.

Just a funny though there...

In Christ Jesus,
Jari.

I stand in agreement.

Oh sister rizen, if you want him you'll have to wait in line ;)
OR go through me first, i'm open minded and rings don't matter much to me, a pizza could solve the whole thing

Wow, what a new interesting thread of yours again sister Rizen!:thumbs_up

This reminds me of my first personal meeting with my ex-bf (now my hubby!) after a year of online dating and knowing each other...

What a tickling and giggling moment was that because I was honestly expecting he would propose personally!

Then, one time, when we were alone in the town house, he started the proposal but ...... with out a ring! lol

Actually, I sensed that something was missing but I almost forgot asking him of the ring because I was captured of his proposal, plus with his sincere eyes, hehehe but he just suddenly asked permission to go upstair and get something... there, i said to myself might be a gift or the ring! lol

When he came back and opened the box, (suspense...) there was the ring... lol He was shocked when I appreaciated it so much and he made a laugh when I asked why it was colorful, but I complained about the big size for my finger.

There he said, "it's just a test ring, darling because I'm not sure of your size, yet"! )-;

Deep inside, I really appreciated the ring though I was thinking and had heard that normally, engagement rings have stones, that one had none... lol

He actually asked sorry for not bringing the real ring, yet because he said he was preparing much for it... That made me admire him more and of course, his reason was accepted. His presence (not counting his plane tickets and risk for his life to come here in my place for the first time) was more than any precious ring. I did not get mad since I am not used to jewelry anyway.

Oh well, everytime I remember that scene, I smile and giggle. That was certainly romantic and funny! ;-)

P.S. on his second visit, there he brought two rings! (a diamond engagement ring and the wedding band) Praise the Lord!

Aww how cute.

oh man, that poor guy after all he did and then for her to turn around and demand another ring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact this guy went to all that trouble should have showed her just what a lucky lady she is.

Great story thanks for sharing xxxxxxxxxxx
