Hi Everyone!

My name is Windi, I'm 28 years old from Cocoa Beach, Fl.. I have a beautiful daughter named Skylee who is 17 months old. She's the most wonderful and amazing blessing I've received so far! Oh, and my soulmate, James, who has been my rock thoughout the years.

I have been a Christian all my life but recently after some hard times, I've begun seeing the world in a different light. :star: I thank my Almighty Creator for the "new set of eyes" as it has helped me be more kind, less angry, & of course forgiving of the people who know not what they do.

I look forward to finding new friendships on Talk Jesus & cannot wait to live this journey called life as a new "me".

So I was hoping some of you could give me your opinions- I'm ready to buy a nice Bible. Any suggestions? Preferably a study Bible as well but I can do without. What Bible version do you all have? What do you like/dislike about it??

Thanks in advance.

I already bought my Bible... NLT version.. and I love it! :shade:

Good choice, I like it too. I have several different translations and transliterations, but the NLT is the one I generally quote from online.
Welcome to TalkJesus Windi, there are a lot of good threads and studies here, hope you enjoy the fellowship too.

Welcome to the forum! Sorry I missed you earlier. Hope that God blesses you richly as you wander through your new Bible!

Yes sir, I agree.. the lord is working in ways I can't even fathom. The tv, the news, shows, new movies, the birds, the sky, people... Jesus is EVERYWHERE. People can't keep denying Him for long! It's a glorious sight to see and I feel so privledged to be here to experience it all and to be able to SEE all His messages to the world. ;)

It's amazing. Just like our God!!!!!!!! :angel-animated:

Hello Winidi welcome to Talk Jesus. I use the NIV mainly no reason probably cause its the most popular one and it makes it easy to talk to others. I also use a Message Bible, The New Living Translation (very lovely bible for women in my opinion), and a Amplified. I have a few others also. I have a program that is free called E-Sword. They have many free bibles available in the 3rd party resources. I was pleased as punch to find a copy of The Living Oracles New Testament Translation on that site. Don't use it as often but it seems in areas a different sometimes better word can be used.

Someone may ask what do I mean a different better word

Rick Warren said in a Purpose Driven Life Page 325 Hardcover
----------------------------------------------------------
The Bible was originally written using 11,280 Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words, but the typical English translation uses only around 6,000 words.

Obviously, nuances and shades of meaning can be missed, so it is always helpful to compare translations.

Second, and even more important, is the fact that we often miss the full impact of familiar Bible verses, not because of poor translating, but simply because they have become so familiar!

We think we know what a verse says because we have read it or heard it so many times. Then when we find it quoted in a book, we skim over it and miss the full meaning..........................

English-speaking people should thank God that we have so many different versions to use for devotional reading.

Welcome to the site.

Btw what church do you go to in the World out there? Not that I want to nit pick but it is VERY IMPORTANT for us to fellowship with one another in person.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
(Hebrews 10:25 NLTse)

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:25 NIV)

not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:25 LONT)

not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:25 MSG)

Neglecting, Giving Up, Forsaking, Avoiding. Those words are convicting.

I just started going to an amazing church called First Baptist Merritt Island. I love the songs they sing for worship, it makes me cry everyyy time, lol The pastor-- Titus Green, is young but don't let that fool you like it did me. He's so great. I don't label myself as anything but a CHRISTian. I don't think we need to worry about anything other than Jesus and The Bible.
As long as we meditate (and follow) on His Word, we can't go wrong. :heart5:

The only reason I picked that church is because right now I'm struggling.. no car, just got laid off 2 weeks ago from my awesome job.. (but I knew it was only temporary for the holiday season) and working with my husband who has a severe mental disability. It's 2 blocks from where we are staying so we know that God was calling us to that church.

Unfortunately, due to the loss of my job.. I'm facing being put out on the street with my 1 year old daughter and losing fellowship with this church I like so much. I would love it so much if you and anyone else could please pray for my family. We need God's miracle to happen soon because we have run out of all other options. I won't give up. I trust my God and know his purpose for all this is for His Glory!!!
