He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:38

Jesus attended the Festival of Tabernacles in secret (John 7:10), knowing that the Jewish leaders were watching for Him. Eventually, He entered the temple and began teaching, saying that His teaching came from God (John 7:16). This led to His proclamation that whoever believed in Him would have rivers of living water flowing from within them. He was talking about the Holy Spirit.

That promise changed your life. You trusted in Christ's sacrifice on the cross and passed from life to death the moment you believed. And every time you witness for Him, it's further evidence that living water is flowing within you.

Note that Jesus made this amazing proclamation in a hostile environment. The Jewish leaders wanted to silence Him and sought to arrest Him as He was speaking (John 7:32). Has this promise so revolutionized your life that you'd be willing to endure persecution, imprisonment, or worse for daring to speak it among people who don't want to hear it?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the promise in today's verse. Thank You for dying for my sin. Infuse me, through the power of the Holy Spirit, with the same boldness that You had as You proclaimed the truth in hostile territory. May I be willing to suffer for doing so in unfriendly environments today.
