This is an email I just sent to some Christian friends who I believe to be my Christian fathers. By this I mean they are the people I lean on for Christian advice.
I've been studying the messages on wayofthemaster.com and just want
some feedback from you guys. The messages in this study are focused on
repentance which is funny becuase this is how I found them God
recently had really put the burden of repentance on my heart on me.
Thru studying their messages we learn that like Paul, he did not know
what the law was and thus did not know he was sinning.
Romans 7:7
7 What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the
contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law;
for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said,
"YOU SHALL NOT COVET!
So not abiding in God's law = Sin and what is God law, the 10
commandments or more. Now the law will not save us (only by the grace
of God) but it shows us our sin and this is what it has done me. I'm
guilty of all of God's law, even as a Christian or believing I was a
christian. I've:
-Worshiped motorcycles, cars, etc
-taken the Lord's name in vein numerous times
-didn't keep the sabbath holy (the whole day)
-Haven't respected my father and mother
-I haven't murdered but the bible says Matt 5:22 "But I say to you
that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the
court, which I'm guilty of
-I have committed adultry in my heart, the bible says Matt 5:28 but I
say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has
already committed adultery with her in his heart
-I've stolen as a child and maybe as an adult thinking of taking small
things from work, like paper and pens
-I am a liar
-and I've wanted the worldly possessions my friends have, cars,
motorcycles, houses, etc.
Maybe I'm guiltless of 1 commandment which is you will not bow down to any idol.
I have done this even recently within my chirstian walk! So am I a
Christian? I know on several occassions I have asked God to forgive
my sins and make me a new creature through him:
2Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things
passed away; behold, new things have come.
I have prayed the sinners prayer many times and have always ment it.
I truely believe in all of my hear that Jesus Christ died on the cross
for all sins and is our risen saviour. I've told myself I would
gladly die for the sake of His kingdom.
But I have not repented which I've been doing recently. I have never
been broken down to tears by my sin because of the law of God. I know
I am a sinner and have done these things and have recently repented
and have asked for foregiveness. Am I a Christian now or was I
before.
If you were to ask me. No I wasn't a Born Agains Christian until just
the other day, when I realized the law showed me my sin and I asked
forgiveness for my sin against the law of God (10 Commandments). I was
a logical Christian. When I was a kid I became a Christian to escape
going to hell, whew now I'm safe but nothing changed. I came back to
the Lord after living with Steve for a while and seeing God's love in
him (my testimony) and some of my life changed. But now being shown
the law and realizing what it really means, I am now a Christian. All
that time I was a Christian in thought but still nothing had really
changed and I would still sin against the law of God. I would sin and
ask for foregiveness. Back and forth back and forth but nothing would
really change. Now it has and I am learning and growing with the law
and am trying my best not to sin against it.
I've started witbnessing to people here in DC. I'm reading the bible
like a mad man. I've had some success with the wayofthemaster methods
of ministering. You gotta check this stuff out. If I can do it
anyone can.
I thank God for you guys all the time as you are the Christian leaders
I look up to the most. Please let me know your thoughts. This topic
is too important to me. Oh yea if you want to share this with any
CMAer's up there please feel free to.
God Bless.
Thank you God for thewayofthemaster message because without it I would have not learned what the law is and my sin against it. Thank you for making me on fire for you(God) and your word(the bible) and ministering to the lost.
