Hello everyone I'm new here.
I was never a serious Christian growing up. I had never felt the presence of God and felt there was something missing. It took me til my last year in college to fall in love with our Lord. It all started with Latin. I vowed to learn the language winter of 2008 and asked my Catholic friend to take me to a Latin mass so I could hear the language (you gotta hear it to speak it well.) There in a drafty cathedral, I felt the presence of God, overwhelming, filling the high ceiling yet peaceful at the same time. This presence was especially strong around communion time.
I asked God if he wanted me to be in this Church, asked him for a sign ( I know your not supposed to do that) He gave me a dream in which these people were singing about the "black hat of the Holy Spirit". It confused me until walking home from a Catholic church, I saw a black hat on the road! Then going with my friend to a night service, I was overcome with emotion and almost cried in the middle of the church.
I was reluctant to get serious about Christianity- to make any obligations to Christ. Most of all, I was afraid He would disappoint me and break my heart. He stayed with me, giving me strength as I entered Confirmation classes. I had so many questions and God (plus my friend) provided answers. I studied the Bible and suddenly verses that had always confused me, made sense!
On March 22nd, 2008 I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior- and meant it this time. My faith is stronger than ever. I have found a love for God I thought myself incapable of.
