Hi conifer,
I think it is possible that you are living under a false misconception. You can "drift away" but you can't personally can not lose what God gives you in the first place, unless you may have never had it!
Welcome and God Bless!

What you are missing is Life itself. People all around are immersed in the death of natural life. Real Life is available to those who care enough to seek it. Jesus did come and paid a price and it was the price of Life itself for whosoever would follow Him.

The thing is when I had a faith it didn't do anything positive for me, the opposite in fact, so I haven't missed it. However, whilst I am an agnostic I don't rule out entirely that a god might exist somewhere. I continue to read the Bible regularly but it hasn't inspired me to change my mind, so far. Sorry my approach appears to be so negative, but when I was a 'born again' Christian it was a very negative experience for me.

Welcome to Talk Jesus @conifer

I pray that your heart and mind will be open to hearing the glorious truth of the word of God
And that being here will be a beautiful blessing for you

From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Psalm 61:2

Looks like you are still missing Jesus, I pray you find him in time!

That is a conflict in terms and an impossibility, you can't be "Born Again" and negative at the same time!
To be "Born Again" means to be born of the spirit, you second birth or your spiritual birth. This only happens when God spiritually puts Jesus in you.
It is spiritually impossible to have greatest source of positive energy inside you and you be negative.
Possibly, you are here and God is calling you still.
He is knocking on your door and you need to let him in! Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
:) Please, I pray you let him in and find the truth that you seek!

I did the 'born again' bit as a kid of 11 as I was threatened with hell-fire if I didn't. The older I got the more the doubts about the faith assailed me, until I completely lost it by the time I left home and married eight years later. My husband, also a 'born again' as a child, had lost his faith by the time we married, and is now a convinced atheist. We decided not to influence our children either way and they are Christians, but not Biblical literalists, thank goodness. The eldest is an Anglican Priest.

I know it is tough from your perspective and I completely understand where you are spiritually. In the Bible, Jesus actually talks about hell more than he does heaven, so it is a real place, but preaching "fire-hell and brimstone" was wrong for an 11 year old. Look, I am not judging, but the issue is the idea of truly being "Born Again" that you keep repeating.
Jesus talks about living in the truth and the truth setting you free. From my knowledge, all I can say is that, one of these truths that his word tells us is that it would be impossible for you to be "Born Again" and feel the way you do. So you are living under the false bondage that you were born again, and you feel lost as a result. The simple truth is , if you have Christ in you, you would not feel the way you do and the same goes for your husband.

I have heard that one so many times! We genuinely believed it to be true when were young. As for Jesus he was a man of his times, and I don't believe he had anymore knowledge of the existence of heaven or hell than anyone else before or since.

Unfortunately for you, this is a Pro Talk Jesus Forum, it is not a Anti Talk Jesus forum. This sight is for believers and those who have a genuine searching and teachable spirit, which you, apparently have neither!

I am not anti-Jesus, if reported correctly the guy said some sensible things, as well as stuff with which I wouldn't agree, but then he was only human like the rest of us, imo. When I joined the forum I said I was just looking to see if I had missed anything, where my opinion of the faith is concerned. I am not expecting anyone on here to see it my way, I don't want to force my lack of belief on anyone!

First Conifer. Welcome aboard!
Glad you stopped by to see how the old neighborhood is doing :)
Hope you do decide to vacation with us now again. You never know you might come back to the old place to live.
It's continually growing. Mansions are being built daily!

That you're still wondering if things have changed? Actually yes. The world is getting worse, persecutions are on the up swing, martyrdom's ranks are increasing, and the Good News continues to shine brightly! :glasses:

Yet some things stay the same. People live, people die. Some with hope, some with despair, some never saw it was coming.

You've reached the hopeful place here at Talk Jesus. Hope springs eternal here. Not for who we are and what we do, but for who He is and what He did.

Once again. Welcome aboard Conifer!

Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.

All I can say again conifer is if you are truly searching , that is one thing, but this is a Talk Jesus forum and no one here is interested in talking against Jesus.

Well if members prefer I leave; I won't stay where I am not wanted?
I or other members have no control whether you stay or not, that is up to a moderator. As far as I see, you have no spirit, much less a teachable one, and all you want to do tell us, who believe, why you don't and make no attempt to listen. You made a comment that you like to look in on a forum like this to see what you are missing. No you don't. you don't even try!

I would listen if anyone had anything toI say, which they could back up with verifiable evidence. The Bible is NOT evidence!

You remind me of somebody who stopped by awhile ago. Family composition more or less the same. Your eldest isn't a girl is she? This other person had a daughter who became an Anglican Priest as well.

So you think Jesus was crazy? Delusional? Misinformed? Maybe, was led to believe a false narrative?

Aaaahhh........I see in your opinion and you pick and choose what part of the historical record you wish to believe?

Just asking some questions to narrow down from your own words what exactly you were taught/believed/know to have been truth at one time and now see as a lie of a less informed lifetime.

I wrote the above to reply to your other postings. Just waiting for some acknowledgement of my welcome to you...........I guess not :(

So I'll continue with your last post.
I would listen if anyone had anything toI say, which they could back up with verifiable evidence. The Bible is NOT evidence!

There is no other narrative from antiquity that has as much manuscript accounts as those of the New Testament. From in and out of Christianity which support the events described! The Bible has been shown to be an accurate Historical Document by those much more qualified then you or I are. So that you choose to disregard the bible account with no supportive evidence is your issue not ours. You may choose to disagree with the philosophical/theological parts of the accounts, but the validity of the accounts you are way off base on.

Understand: You are welcome to seek to learn and decide for yourself on the merits of what is presented to you. However, you are not entitled to disparage the one for us here at Talk Jesus who believe gave His life so that we might live! Visitors in your home are expected to act with some decorum or would be asked to leave. So we expect the same from you.

So you came here to a Christian site to voice your opinion. Brilliant way of disproving the bible that has more evidence than you've bothered to research.

Eternity is a very long time to be wrong and ignorant.
