Hello from a lost soul.

Hello,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. My name is Eric, I'm 26 years old, and I'm trying to find the reason for my being. I was never raised in church, and to be honest, the only time I ever attended a church was because my girlfriend at the time happened to go on Wednesday nights.

I seek help. I seek love, knowledge, and friendship. I just don't know where to start. I've tried reading the bible, but I tend to find things so confusing. I've started in Mark (as I've read that's a good starting spot) and have yet to make it through one chapter in the bible.

I tell you this in all honesty, making myself vulnerable is a difficult thing to do, but if the community is full of true Christians, I feel like I won't be insulted for my truths.

Thank you so much, Rev T.S. Perkins. Didn't think anyone had noticed the thread. I appreciate the welcome. I can read it just fine, but it's all just so confusing. Like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle.

Hi there Intrepid. I just wanted to reply because you HAVE been noticed. I'm new here but I've been very actively reading the Bible for a couple of years now. My very favorite book (I haven't read all of them, though) is Romans. Paul just explains Christ's love for us so well in that book. My favorite chapter is 8, but they are all good!
I agree with the Rev that maybe you should start there. Also, I usually pray before I read God's word and ask Him to open my heart and show me and help me to understand what He wants me get out of His word. Even if you only read a few verses at a time, and go back and re-read, and pray and re-read, I think that's better than reading a lot but not understanding any of it. At one time I felt like I had no purpose, even though I was married with four kids, was a teacher, had friends. It took a very hard coming-to-the-end-of-myself experience to help me see that God has a purpose for me and is crazy in love with me!

allow me if you will to ask has any body told you of the Great love God has for you and that no matter what youve done ,where youve been or where you are now GOD LOVES YOU .! Eric i dont know you on a personal basis but God does ..and He is seeking you out by leading you here ..let me suggest that for the new year you start with Asking Christ to come in to youre Heart and reveal all He has in store for you ...until you apply the love of God and His forgivness of sin to youre heart YES it will be like something is missing..! The key is Jesus .....love ya man ..God be wit you in this time and protect you from all who would lead you off Gods chosen path for you .! im up all night .ill be watching to respond to youre posts ....Rev
