hi,
I wasn't able to sleep last night, so I got online and started looking up things. I stumbled onto this site and I thought it might be a good place to maybe get some insight on something.

I'm wondering if there are others out there that are dealing with depression as of lately. I don't mean due to serious problems or anything, that would be a reason. I mean all of a sudden, dealing with feelings of depression or indifference?
I have no reason to be depressed, but I am! Our church is a wonderful group. we all get along....no major dramas or anything going on. we just came off a 3 day fast. We have lots of outreach programs going on etc. I'm by nature, a very upbeat happy person. but this last 2 weeks have been horrible!! I can't exactly put my finger on anything that would make me feel so low. this last week I haven't even cared if I went to church or not. its like it just didn't matter to me. and I never miss. I feel sometimes like I've missed something along the way. It's like, my prayers have been as of lately, Lord, help me to really GET it. Get what it's really all about.
I've repented, been baptized and filled with His Spirit. I have personally witnessed several of God's miracles in my life that no one can ever take away from me. I have taught in lady's prayer meetings, sunday school, youth classes etc. I've spoken at Lady's seminars. I've been active in church for many years. And yet, as of late I wonder if I KNOW Him or know ABOUT Him? This has got to be about a relationship, right? Could this be what this depression is all about? or is it just a spiritual attack? Believe it or not, I'm confused! I have no answers. This feeling of depression and despondency is hard to hide and I can honestly see, for the first time, why some people commit suicide. No, I'm not suicidal.....I am just saying, for those who don't have any hope in Jesus, to feel this kind of sadness and dispair is horrible.
I think I'm rambling now, so I'll stop. If anyone could give me some kind of feedback on this, I'd very much appreciate it. I dont mean to sound like someone throwing in the towel, not by far! but I'm just wondering where this all is coming from.
I appologize for coming in an introducing myself as such a miserably depressed person!! I'm hardly EVER down about anything! Even in problems it's ME who is usually the annoying one that can find the silver lining!! lol
thanks,
just me

Dearest Sister,
thank you for writing me today. I've read it twice now. I remember the story of Elijah well.
I would love to say I've shaken off this depression already, but I haven't....YET.
In the mean time, I'll keep on doing what I know to do and just wait it out. This too shall pass, right?
I just don't want to talk this over with members of the church b/c I don't want anyone to really know. it's kind of nice talking to someone I don't know personally, yet understands things on a spiritual level.
so, again, thank you for your letter. It meant alot.
sincerely,
cindy

Hi Ceebee
I read an amazing article last week about a Christian who lost his joy, that might encourage you.
Google "Imprisoned Joy, Part 1 by George Halitzka"
It a really really long article, but its really worth it! Read part 1 and part 2!

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:12–13

blessings !

my dear in christ this is for you.

May EASTER RABBIT in your heart's nest
Lay the golden egg upon whose quest
All knights and ladies plain and fair,
Are seeking, seeking everywhere.

The longed-for GOLDEN EGG of PEACE
Which makes all earthly woes to cease
By filling hearts with LOVE FOR OTHERS,
So self's forgot as we help our brother.

If you haven't any Easter clothes on Easter morn to wear
Then don't you care.
If the EASTER RABBIT passes by and leaves no gift behind,
Then don't you mind.
Just smile at every one you meet and do some kindly act,
For it's a fact,
By doing any kindly deed one's heart is filled with JOY
Which will destroy
All pain that one may suffer from ENVY'S cruel sting;
So you can sing -
"Fulfilled will be my wishes for gifts and raiment fair -
Some day - somewhere."

love you in christ

Ceebee welcome, I am sorry you are going through such a rough time but know that the Lord will be with you through this time. I don't know if it is a physical or a spiritual warfare you are going through but I pray that the Lord will lead you in the direction to go to help you.

Sending hugs, Trish

Ceebee I hope this scripture will help you in your time of need.

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in Thee: yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. Psalm 57:1

God Bless, Trish

Cindy,

It bothers me that you can't open up to anyone at your church about this issue. Counseling and prayer support for members in time of need is a big part of what church is supposed to be all about. I saw in your profile, though, that you were badly hurt by your former congregation. What about your present church? Have you formed any close friendships there?

I suggest you seek professional help through a trained Christian psychologist - not necessarily a pastor (many pastors are not annointed to be counselors) - and be ready to commit to a lengthy recovery process. I was diagnosed with chronic depression more than ten years ago and put on medication. Aside from the pills, two things helped me deal with the problem: several months counseling with a highly skilled and compassionate Christian counselor plus, with God's guidance, developing a cadre of good friends in my church who really walk the Christian walk and have been powerful influences for good in my life.

Please feel free to p.m. me if I can be of any help to you.
