"And as soon as we heard [these things], our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the LORD your God, He [is] God in heaven above and on earth beneath. Joshua 2:11 NKJV

After arriving at the Jordan River, Joshua secretly sends across two trusted spies. He sends them to one city, and only one, careful not to repeat the disaster that befell the nation forty years earlier. Once inside the imposing walled city, the spies soon realize they are the most wanted men in Jericho. Humanly speaking, they are doomed!

They are doomed—except for an unexpected and surprising ally, Rahab’s remarkable faith is clearly expressed in verses 9-11. Do not miss her closing statement of faith above.

In complete contrast with her people, Rahab turns away from her sins, turns steadfastly toward the Lord God of heaven and earth, and trusts His purposes and protection for her family.

Never forget that Rahab does so at the risk of losing her own life. You can imagine she does so after many desperate and fervent pleas that the Lord spare the lives of her beloved parents, siblings, and their families.

Instead of dying, Rahab’s blood is spared and later comingled with the lineage of the promised Messiah (Matthew 1:5).

What remarkable faith, indeed!

Prayer: Lord, You want me to be inspired by courageous women. Thank You for Rahab.
