And David said to Abigail, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand! 1 Samuel 25:32-33 ESV

We’ve all known fools. Hopefully, we’ve never let them drive us to our own folly.

Israel’s anointed but not-yet-crowned king, David, nearly succumbed to fury over an obnoxious man named Nabal—whose name means “Fool.” The famed conqueror of Goliath, now running from a paranoid King Saul, had treated the wealthy Nabal respectfully, never harassing his flocks or shepherds as he and his men hid in the wilderness. During the festive shearing time, David humbly requested food for his soldiers.

Nabal’s response—“Who is this David?...Why should I” (1 Samuel 25:10-11)—set the young warrior raging. He told his four hundred men to strap on their swords (v.13).

When Nabal’s beautiful and wise wife, Abigail, perceived the coming storm, she quickly loaded donkeys with food and hurried to meet David, who was bent on killing Nabal and every one of his men. Her kind demeanor and gracious words defused the situation, leading David to speak the words of today’s scripture.

David saw God’s hand in sending Abigail to stop his sinful plans. God will send people into our lives for the same purpose. Will we heed their warnings?

Prayer: Father, thanks for looking out for me. I need it!

Amplified Bible Proverbs 31:10
An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls.

Proverbs 14:1
Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.:pensive:

We must Give place for GOD.:pensive:

Thanks Brother.
