Absolutely, but when we are quenching the Spirit of God in us, does the Hearer remain in us?

Of course He stays with us. In us. The Holy Spirit never leaves us. He just hurts but continues to love us

With our God, its not a case of Seeing is believing. Its Believing is seeing. Credendo Vedes In believing you see

How long will the Holy Spirit suffer us so? God has never changed and we know that He has shown great mercy toward men from the scriptures, but men have all too often pushed God too far. Remember this prayer of David?

"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me." Psalm 51:11

Is that a prayer that we need to pray today?

I for one do not believe we can "push" God to far. Where sin abounds grace does much more abound. Grace does not match sin, it greatly exceeds it.
Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit which would come to us as the "comforter" would live in us "forever" John 14:16

Healing is a part of the Old and New Covenant, but healing does not automatically come upon us. We must go to the scriptures that "promise" it, extract the faith from these scriptures that they give (faith comes by hearing the Word), and then take that faith, and put it right back into those promises so we receive their fulfillment in our lives.

amadeus..Here's a really cool thing..David, who wrote that psalm did not have the Holy Spirit residing inside him. He implored God "Please do not go away from me" Right?
Now under this new covenant where the Holy Spirit lives inside us, we can say instead "Thank you Father, for you will NEVER go away from us"! We live by faith. He said "I will never leave you nor forsake you" We can stand on that and make statements of faith instead of begging for what He already promised us. How cool is that?
You asked if that's the prayer we need to pray today. Let's not waste our time in begging God to do something that He's already done. Like Please don't take yourself away from me when He's already promised that He will not. Or "Oh God please heal me" He's already done that too. 1 Pete 2:24

Our God is the great I AM. Do you need comforting He is that I AM; do you need healing? He is that I AM Do you need deliverance from bondage of any kind? He is that I AM. Anything that you need He has provided and many of your wants too. Why? Because that's the I AM that HE AM.

So you're saying that when we go to those healing scriptures we read them aloud so we HEAR them and our faith is grown. I like that Curtis

Yes brother, Faith only comes by hearing the Word of God.

Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Salvation only came by confession with our mouth, and believing with our heart, so do all the other "promises" of God. Faith can not get into our heart until it is first in our mouth.
Most of the time when we first begin confessing the Word God we don't really believe it until faith is received in out hearts. As it is written....

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Well that makes us 100% agreed.

John 14:16; doesn't say "will" it says "may". May means it's a possibility, but not a definite.
As far as pushing God too far...

2 Jn 1:8; Watch yourselves, that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.
2 Jn 1:9; Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
2 Jn 1:10; If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting;
2 Jn 1:11; for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

Watch yourself, so you don't lose what you've already accomplished... hmmm.. can we accomplish anything without Jesus?
Yet even the things we accomplish with Him can be lost.
What does the word "abide" mean? Websters says.. "to act in accordance with".
If we go too far, and stop acting in accordance with the teachings of Christ... we do not have God.
This is the problem with antimonianism... Grace covers everything.. we can live however we want. However the Bible teaches the exact opposite.

Jude 1:4; For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into a license to sin and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Heb 10:26; says if we go on sinning willfully....

There is only one problem. Salvation is not a "reward".

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

There are "rewards" that a Christian can earn in this life, but "salvation" is not one of them.

Consider what the OT is for us. Does it not contain types or shadows for us? Is it not itself a type of a shadow for us?

"Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:" Numb 14:22-23

After ten times there was no more mercy for them. Has God ever changed? Why would there be a limit in the amount of His mercy for them but not for us?

What does the NT say?

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:"48

God has given us in these NT times more and therefore He does not requires less of us, but more...

He will never leave us or forsake, but we in following our own will instead of His will can and do leave Him. Usually, He has received us back. Like the prodigal son He rejoices when we come back. But... when we who are not so without experience in the power of God through the Holy Ghost in us repeatedly turn away from Him, will not the time come when as it says in Rev 10:6 there will be "time no longer".

That thing of time is so for the world as a whole, but is it not also so for each of us in our own little world? God has given us more power than we can understand, but we repeatedly throw the power effectively back in His face thinking to ourselves, He'll forgive me as He always has before", but then there is "time no longer". There is no more room given for repentance. We'll find ourselves in the place of Esau who had the birthright and sold it for a bowl of food. When he wanted to repent, there was no room given.

"Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears." Heb 12:15-17

All of God's promises are real, but are they absolutely unconditional? How many times can we spit in Jesus' face and be forgiven? Remember the man who threw rocks at King David and the King would not allow his followers to touch the stone thrower. Later the stone thrower was given guidelines by King Solomon. When the man stepped out of bounds, Solomon had him put to death. This is another of those types or shadows. You can say they don't apply, but slow down on that judgment. What if you're wrong?

Brother, is there a limit to God's mercy, or grace? Even when we were still sinners Christ died for us.(Romans 5:8) Even when we were dead in sins God raised us up with Christ and has made us sit together in Heavenly places in Christ (Eph 2:5). There is no limit to God's mercy grace in what he did for us. The only limit there is, is when we "refuse" to hearken to the voice of God. What exactly does that produce? A harden heart. Anytime a person hears the Word of God and refuses to believe it their hearts become hardened.That is the fault of the hearer not God. Man is the one who limits God in his refusing to believe.

Properly nourishment will keep the "new man" alive, but he can be starved to death. When the new man is gone, where can the Holy Spirit stay? In the empty shell of a dead "old man"?

God gave us salvation. It belongs to us. If we were to lose our salvation it would not be because God took it away..
Romans 11:28-30 (CJB)
28 With respect to the Good News they are hated for your sake. But with respect to being chosen they are loved for the Patriarchs’ sake, 29 for God’s free gifts and his calling are irrevocable. 30 Just as you yourselves were disobedient to God before but have received mercy now because of Isra’el’s disobedience;
It would be because instead of speaking what God speaks about you, you choose to speak what Satan speaks about you. You choose the end you want and then you speak it. Then you do it and/or get it.

LOL My friend, if its true that we are spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body, then we are already immortal.. How does one kill a spirit? Can't!

But without feeding the spirit gets weaker and weaker and weaker. Still the Holy Spirit resides within...Waiting calling coaxing.....
