He TRULY Cares for You
READ: Verses below
1 Peter 5:6-7 (NET) “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
The apostle here defines for us the greatest act of humility toward the triune God. It is not by piously finishing your devotions or attending church. It is not even by sharing your faith. True humility is achieved when you cast all your anxieties on the Lord and leave none to spare.
I find in my own life that I do cast my cares upon the Lord. Some details, it seems, never make it heavenward. What I hold on to is exactly what the text warns against (5:5). God must take all our burdens simultaneously or we run the risk of praying with a steak of pride.
This God we serve is not like any distant god of any other religion. He is the living God in whom all true believers can find strength and hope. Family may forsake you, but God will not (Psalm 27:10). When you are poor and needy, God is thinking of you and working on your behalf (Psalm 40:17). This is not prosperity teaching. This is the mighty Word of God that exalts to highest heavens the truth that God truly “cares for you” both now and for eternity.
Faith Lesson:
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
In Christ,
Darin Smith
