‘He first loved us’ 1Jn.4

Only four words but a wonderful story is enclosed in them, for these words tell us about the first thing that ever there was. I mean there was nothing else before it. I believe it was the beginning of everything that we know today.

‘He first loved us’. These words are speaking about God and they say that the first thing that Almighty God ever did was to love. Love is the nature of God for ‘God is love’ say the scriptures.

The sun would illustrate this because the first thing that the sun ever did was to shine. It could not do anything else but shine for shining is its nature. Shining is the nature of the sun. God's nature is love, and the first thing that he ever did was to love.

The bible says that he loved you and me, and that is amazing. His loving of you and I was the first thing, of all those things that human beings have taught or thought to have been first. This is the beginning, the original. Here is the ultimate, the apex. There is no higher peak than this. The first thing that Almighty God ever did, ‘he loved us’.

Creation was the outworking of his mighty power. But before he began creations work he loved us.
‘he first loved us’ How can we explore and discover the sincerity passion and depths of his love? How can we measure it? Is there some yardstick that we can use to help us to appreciate it?.

Love is the very essence of God, and the very heart of Christianity. Indeed, the vast majority of Christ's commandments were that we love, as a response of His love for us.

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."" - Eph 3:17-19 (NKJV).

"Could we with ink the ocean fill....or were the skies of parchment made
Were every blade of grass a quill, and every man a scribe by trade.

To write the love of God above, would drain the ocean dry, nor could the scroll contain the whole....though stretched from sky to sky".

I forget the rest of the song.........Perhaps someone could help me. Such mighty, such inspired words.....

Eureka....I found it.

I was blessed as I listened. You may not be....but the words are life changing

The Love of God

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Refrain

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

Refrain
