Whatever makes you happy is a lie. Happiness always fails you as other emotions replace it. Joy is what you're looking for because nothing replaces joy in the heart.

Excellent brother and I agree 100%.

Have you got a scripture to suport what you say?

Be Blessed.

Dear Gospelpreacher.

The scriptures contain the full revelation of Jesus Christ.

Without the scriptures we Christians would have gone astray a long time ago.

I became a Christian by reading the New Testament.

I received the promised Holy Spirit just like people did in the New Testament.

In the Bible, God's comprehensive plan for the salvation of mankind
is clearly and precisely revealed.

All scripture is God breathed, God's hand at work. It is profitable for teaching and correction.

The Holy Scriptures point directly to God, they are faultless.

Baa, baa.

God gives us many things to be happy or glad about and they are not lies.

I have happiness in my marriage. My marriage is not a lie.

I have happiness in watching my pets play. My children all grown up so I have only my pets at home. So that is a lie?

When my hubby & I get together with our Children it makes us Happy. What lies it that?

God gave us relationships to enjoy. We can enjoy the sunshine and the rain as well, these simple things can make us Happy. They are not sinful NOR are they a lie. When I am made Happy I praise the Lord for what He has given me.

When my husband gets his favourite meal that makes him Happy. Yes it is temporary but God gives us food to enjoy as well as to nourish our bodies.

All these things are temporary and we should not make them idols. However there is no Sin in having Happiness in this world when you are right with God.

Hapiness is a gift from GOD. Not everything we do or indulge in that makes us Happy is a Sin or a LIE!

HERE ARE SOME BIBLICAL EXAMPLES:-

DT 24:5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.
GE 30:12 Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. 13 Then Leah said, "How happy I am! The women will call me happy." So she named him Asher.
1KI 4:20 The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.
EST 8:15 Mordecai left the king's presence wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold and a purple robe of fine linen. And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration. 16 For the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy, gladness and honor. 17 In every province and in every city, wherever the edict of the king went, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.
ECC 2:24 A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
PS 68:3 But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful.
PR 15:13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
MT 25:21 "His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
There are many spirits out there leading people into all sorts of mystical and spiritual experiences and supposed truths. If they don't line up with the Bible they are NOT of God. We are to Trust Gods words as they are His Truth. If it's not supported by Scripture I throw it away.

(Psa 4:6) There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

(Psa 4:7) Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

(Psa 4:8) I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Well said MelodyC! Agree with the examples you made both in and out of scripture! What will make me even happier with greater joy is to see all my family being saved in Christ Jesus!

I'm not sure that I agree that happiness is a lie, but, it certainly is fleeting and temporary. In writing America's Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson said we have the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." There's no guarantee that we will obtain it every time we pursue it.

Some things that are fleeting but make me happy: smiles, daffodils, bicycles, hugs, fish and chips, rainbows, swimming in the sea, understanding something for the first time, pavement cafes, new socks, surprises, good novels, singing in the bath, deep conversations, puns, spiders' webs, wine, the sound of surf breaking, my children's jokes, camping, snoozing in the afternoon, going to the pictures, the smell of farmyards, arriving in a country for the first time, snowflakes, the first warm day in spring, having nothing in particular to do, fresh fruit, making long lists, Buddy Holly songs, being silly, going home, cooking a really good meal, letting my imagination wander, solving problems, lying in the sun, anything that is orange, long long walks, birdsong, being awake at dawn, coffee, inspirational art...

Happiness is a lie? Not sure what you are saying here but the bible says this

Psalm144:15 Happy are the people who in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!

Proverbs3:13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver And her gain than fine gold.

Proverbs16:20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

It would seem to me that God is happiness and that my friend is not a lie...all these scriptures I have posted state that wisdom that is attained from the Lord brings happiness, Listening to and heeding the word of God brings forth happiness and most importantly is that fact that Happy are those whose God is the Lord and since each one of us has found the Lord and He resides in each of us we have attained that happiness and are happy in Him.

I have so much to be thankful for and so much that,God has given me that brings me happiness..I have a beautiful niece and nephew that make me happy and put a smile on my face, friends that truely care and love me and that makes me happy, a family that is always there for me and this too makes me happy. Sunny skies, beautiful flowers, a blowing breeze, the sound of children laughing, birds singing,.. all these are things that bring me happiness, but they bring me happiness because first and foremost I have our Lord Jesus in my heart and He is my Lord and Savior...He is my happiness and because of Him I find happiness in what He has given me and in the very creation He has made.

I wouldn't say happiness is a lie, I would say happiness is temporary though. Joy on the other hand is not temporary and lasts for ever.
