Would you tell people here of how you first learned how to recognize the Holy Spirit.Starting Each Day and Ending Each Day, speaking to The Spirit, and asking for Guidance, According to His Will ... speaks the most to me : )
For myself in the beginning I used to hear the voice of God as loud as if I'm talking to you. But as time went on God went from exterior verbal communication to Interior communication. And it took some time to learn to recognize the internal communication, especially when he wants specific things done.Starting Each Day and Ending Each Day, speaking to The Spirit, and asking for Guidance, According to His Will ... speaks the most to me : )

Most people do not have an instantaneous understanding of how the spirit works with them or how to recognize the Holy Spirit.
Do you have a method to understand when you know it's the Holy Spirit or not?
Well the question wasn't for me so much. As it is for everyone else here. There are a few here that have Gifts of the Spirit, in a strong way and others in lesser degrees.Bill this is a Good question for all of us here, I would say : )
"Starting Each Day and Ending Each Day, speaking to The Spirit, and asking for Guidance, According to His Will ... speaks the most to me : )" as mentioned above.
To expand on this, I need to quote your comment "For myself in the beginning I used to hear the voice of God as loud as if I'm talking to you. But as time went on God went from exterior verbal communication to Interior communication. And it took some time to learn to recognize the internal communication, especially when he wants specific things done."
Yes, the external view of God indeed matures, to actually 'hearing' the internal 'voice' of God (that still small voice in my head), to sometimes realising that the 'voice' is not my own, and to just going with that little 'voice' and accepting that God is speaking to me or guiding me all the time, in His way : )
EG today, I was upset by the way I was being treated by a supplier (not once, twice nor 3 times). When the 4th upset occurred, I lost my cool, and told the man firmly that he was acting unethically and that I was most upset. I left the premises without another word, and once seated in the car, I was tempted to send him a phone message, but something stopped me ... that small "voice". So it IS happening, hallelujah : )
It has been a longish journey from a 'niave way' or a 'less spiritual understanding way'. I would like to believe that every day going forward, I am maturing spiritually, and I truly long for even more maturity. I would question God, why He let my dog suffer and then I had to put him down (even though I prayed so hard, and cried out to Him). I would question why He is not healing me. I was less patient and less understanding, and as the days, months, years go bye, my spiritual understanding and understanding of Father God deepens. The more I delve into God's Word, the more I understand.
Hope that answers your question Bill : )
Bill,Well the question wasn't for me so much. As it is for everyone else here. There are a few here that have Gifts of the Spirit, in a strong way and others in lesser degrees.
I was wondering if you could explain, if you have a system, how you can determine it's God speaking and not your own thoughts?
This is a system i have taught for many years to help people recognize God's plan verses your own.
First, your sincerity is important.
What we seek from God is His peace in our heart. So on saturday, you want to discover God's path for you on Sunday.
Write out 3 paths for your day . Path #1, pray, go to a sunday service , go to breakfast, go visit mom, cut the grass, family time, dinner pray and bed
#2, pray, go have breakfast , go to a sunday service , family time, call mom on phone, pray dinner bed
#3 pray, family time, visit a friend and go to church with them, cut moms grass, fast from dinner, pray bed
Pray over each one. And one of these paths you will feel a certain peace from it. This is God's peace. As time continues, you will feel the same peace while reading articles of a newspaper or hearing a preacher. You will recognize when truth or falsehood is read, spoken and even God's presence in people and things (blessed water etc.) As there are no limits to God, there are no limits to how the Holy Spirit can move in us.
I wasn't talking to you directly with my direction of how to learn to experience God's peace in your heart. I was just giving the example that I used when I teach others about it.Bill,
To be sincere and answer your next question,
I must confess that I know that it is Holy Spirit or the Father talking to me ... this could be somewhat random, without the strategy that you suggest.
Instead of praying over every single thing during my day, I speak to Him all day and at random times (nothing formal or strategised : )
When I pose a question, I have had profound answers come instantaneously, where I know that the words (in my head of course) are not my own, because the words seem strange, yet amazing. Often Holy Spirit steps in when I want to take some sort of action and I fleetingly ask/think, "should I be doing this" (very unformal); HS overshadows my thoughts. This is growing, and I am loving it.
I do see the merit is what you are suggesting, thank you : )
Hi Bill,I wasn't talking to you directly with my direction of how to learn to experience God's peace in your heart. I was just giving the example that I used when I teach others about it.
However as time goes on of course you learn to recognize that peace in your own heart and you don't have to go through that system because that's just a training tool. I know that there's some people that experience the Holy Spirit in a strong way right up front and personal and that's great but not everyone experiences that.
As I was trying to ask you how did you develop that knowledge of knowing it was God who spoke. Did you use a system to learn to recognize that it was God speaking to you or did you have the pleasure of knowing exactly who was talking to you all the time.
For me, God's work with me is all on faith. And I've had to learn everything the hard way not because I'm trying to be hard but because God wants to be hard for me. He wants me to have complete faith in him, to not have confirmations to prove that it is God who speaks to me. I have to have faith that it's God who speaks. So the one thing the Lord told me was that I had to learn to recognize his peace in my heart.
And I find it interesting that you say it's the Holy Spirit and the Father who speak to you because it's the same with me. I mean I do recognize when Jesus speaks but he speaks so little in my conversations with God. I would say it's 98% God who speaks to me but I'm always involved with the Holy Spirit too and I recognize the urging of the Holy Spirit within me.
God's Love always.Hi Bill,
Thanks for clarifying that you are speaking to al of us : ) : ) : )
I would like to answer the sentences/paragraphs one by one:
Quote 1: "I know that there's some people that experience the Holy Spirit in a strong way right up front and personal and that's great but not everyone experiences that."
Answer 1: Exactly right, and at first I felt rather sad that I could not actually hear or see Him : (
Q 2: "As I was trying to ask you how did you develop that knowledge of knowing it was God who spoke. Did you use a system to learn to recognize that it was God speaking to you or did you have the pleasure of knowing exactly who was talking to you all the time."
A 2: A long story: As a 16 yr old I had a demonic experience: My Mum and Sis would play the" Weegee" board (lazy to look up sp), and I was terrified. Even the dog used to run away from me, and I would jump from my light switch at the wall and onto my bed each night. Fortunately my Sis told me to put Dad's crucifix (no we are not Catholic, nor were we religious), next to my bed, and "if you are attacked, make sure to call on Jesus at least 3 times. Well, I had to do that one night, and that fixed my faith and belief in Jesus and God.
In South Africa I escaped 3 car hi-jacking (people around me were being murdered, raped and tortured, and it was right on our doorstep); eventually managed to get my family to AU. I've left a lot out ...
In May 2023, I was baptised and things started to shift. Six months later I had a vision that Jesus baptised me. I would visualise going through large arched doors, and into a lecture theatre. I would visualise sitting in this theature and waiting for a "lesson", and most times I would fall asleep, waiting. This night, I was sitting up front in my "lecture theatre", and immediately Jesus extended his hand out to me (I knew it was Him, yet I don't remember actually seeing his face). His hand extended and held onto mine, and this lasted so long; it was So Beautiful, I will never forget it (it was 2 years ago, and it feels like yesterday). Then I was up front of the stage with Jesus, and he "dry baptised" me then and there (no water). He held me back as though he was putting my head under the water, and this too lasted a very long time. I am so grateful for this experience.
Q 3: "For me, God's work with me is all on faith. And I've had to learn everything the hard way not because I'm trying to be hard but because God wants to be hard for me. He wants me to have complete faith in him, to not have confirmations to prove that it is God who speaks to me. I have to have faith that it's God who speaks. So the one thing the Lord told me was that I had to learn to recognize his peace in my heart."
A 3: Yes, I have questioned Father a many times about allowing evil things to continue, and I've asked for healing ...
I now know that He will get there, but I also think Holy Spirit is telling me that there is something to learn? I am not too sure about HS's small quiet voice at times, and at other times it immediately ends my question, without a break (hard to explain). The thoughts seem to immediately enter my mind, and do bring me peace.
At times I have thought, that Father is not answering my questions, yet deep down inside of me I know that there IS a Reason (or I hear H S talking, and bring that peace, for me to accept what is and move on from there : )
When thoughts of "I should be offended", I pray on this and I demand that any negative or demonic presence be Gone on the Blood of Christ, and in His Name. I end these commands (yes, I have to do this periodically) with Jesua, Jesua, Jesua and then let it go. The thoughts do not return ...
Q 4: "And I find it interesting that you say it's the Holy Spirit and the Father who speak to you because it's the same with me. I mean I do recognize when Jesus speaks but he speaks so little in my conversations with God. I would say it's 98% God who speaks to me but I'm always involved with the Holy Spirit too and I recognize the urging of the Holy Spirit within me.
A 4: My "knowing" that it is Father speaking to me, is strong, for eg. In tears and full of emotion I would ask: 'Father When will Jesus return?' Immediately the answer came (seems booming yet it is not; had to explain this). "He will be there when all the lights are on". Where on this Earth would an answer like that come so suddenly and so strongly? That was unmistakenly Father God's "voice"! Another important question and answer (when emotional) eg. I asked Father God: 'Will you let "them" tamper with our brains, as in the "chip"?' Immediate strong, bold answer: "He will be there before then".
Jesus has visited me in dreams a few times too (I feel so honoured and hang on fiercely to the Beautiful Memories of the experiences with Him (eg walking down a dirt road holding His hand, with others by our sides (think he was in robes as were the others); sitting on the back of a scooter with Him, an awesome and fun experience. So I tend to agree with you that with Jesus does not speak much. He is Right There, and does not need to speak; he is Action! So I now accept that Father God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit do Walk with me, and I am learning how to Walk with Them. We all experience The Trinity differently, and if we pray, trust, and believe, the experiences start to come ...
This exercise is good for me and hopefully others, as it is getting me to think deeper, and hopefully my experiences may ring true for someone else ...
At first I wondered why you were asking me these questions, and now I know, thank you!
