Grace, unmerited grace; God's unmerited favour; God giving us what we do not deserve in terms of blessing; God shielding us from what we do deserve, in terms of judgement and punishment for sin. That's grace.
God opening His hands wide to us, with His arms full of blessing for us. Utterly unmerited.......The gospel is about the power of a God who has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done, but because of His own purpose and grace (vv. 8-9)
It is a unique Gospel about His unmerited grace, something we cannot deserve. And the more we try to please God, the more we become aware that we just don't deserve His grace; and the more we try to please God, the more we discover that God loves us, not because we try to please Him, but because of His great love. That is grace, unmerited grace.
Some are very conscious of failure. But this love does not flow from our goodness it flows from His. Relax. Rest in His love for you. God cannot love you anymore than what He already does today. Right now. Cry unto Him to meet you and lift you, not to make you more lovable, but to make you more consistent.
