Good fruit is that which is produced by the Holy Spirit. Good fruit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. A person cannot bear good fruit unless they abide in Jesus. Jesus said, "Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."-John 15:4-5.
In order to stay spiritually productive, I must stay firmly connected to Jesus. Apart from Jesus, I can do nothing. Staying connected to my Savior is the only way I can produce the fruit of the Spirit in my every day life. I draw my strength, nourishment, protection, and energy from God the Holy Spirit Who dwells within me. The fruit of the Spirit is in me as a result of my faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for me at the cross. This fruit that I now possess will slowly dissipate if I do not keep it nourished with God's Word. I must not ignore the Word of God, skimp on prayer, and withhold areas of my life from the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Every day that I commit myself to Jesus, talk to Him throughout the day, and listen to Him; I can experience peace and joy. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, I can be fruitful. I can still bear fruit in old age, healthy and green.-Psalm 92:14. A poor widow in a one-room apartment can bear as much fruit as a televangelist leading giant crusades if she is surrendered to God in everything and using all He has given her for His glory.
God knows what He has entrusted to us and what He expects us to do with it. Our responsibility before God is to be "faithful with little" so that He can trust us with much.-Matthew 25:21.
Lord, may we continue to bear good fruit as we study Your Word, talk to You throughout the day, and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
