Your name, O LORD, endures forever; your fame, O LORD, is known to every generation. Psalm 135:13 NLT
Like brag, fame is another word you don't usually expect to read in the Bible.

In scripture, God was the first One to talk about fame. He told Pharaoh, "I have spared you for a purpose--to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth" (Exodus 9:16; also see Romans 9:17). Later, Moses urged God to remember His fame and not destroy His disobedient people (Numbers 14:15).

King David's fame spread throughout Palestine and beyond (1 Chronicles 14:17). His fame was a gift from God for His glory. King Solomon's fame spread throughout the known world (1 Kings 1:47; 3:13; 4:31; 10:1; 2 Chronicles 1:11-12; 9:1). His fame was gift too.
Similarly, centuries later King Hezekiah's fame spread throughout the Levant and beyond (2 Chronicles 26:8; 26:15), and Mordecai's fame spread throughout the entire Persian empire (Ester 9:4).

Mostly, however, God's Word talks about the Lord's worldwide and eternal fame (Psalms 102:12, 21; 135:13; Isaiah 64:2; 66:19). Ultimately, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all (Isaiah 45:22-25; Romans 10:9-10; 14:11; Philippians 2:10-11).

Prayer: Lord, help me to brag about Your fame again this coming week.
