"Whoever brags must brag about what the Lord has done." 1 Corinthians 1:31 GW
Brag isn't a word you read very often in the Bible. In three contemporary English bible translations, however, you'll find it used 108 times, including 7 times in the apostle Paul's first letter to the Church in Corinth. Several of the Bible's lessons about bragging are counterintuitive.

- - God wants godly men to brag (1 Chronicles 16:10; Psalm 63:11; Jeremiah 9:23-24; Romans 5:11; 1 Corinthians 1:31; 2 Corinthians 10:17; Galatians 6:14).
- - Evil men brag about their evil deeds, wicked ways, lifeless idols, abundant wealth, and unchecked power--all of which will disappear.
- - Good men don't brag about themselves and what God has given them (Revelations 3:17), and don't brag about what they plan to do (Proverbs 27:1; James 4:13-14).
- - Godly men brag about what's eternal--not just God Himself but also His Word, the rewards and joys of eternity, and other godly men (Psalm 106:5).
- - Godly men also brag about their temporal trials and suffering (Romans 5:3; 2 Thessalonians 1:4) and their personal weaknesses (2 Corinthians 11:30; 12:5, 9).
- So, are you ready to brag?
