God uses normal people
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And so our God is called throughout the Bible and down through the years. What an impact this one family has had on the whole world, especially when you remember that Abraham's "other son" was Ishmael, who became the father of the Muslim world. Just as we discovered that Abraham was a man of faith and used by God, so it is with his son and grandson.
Yet, just as true, is their human frailty and tendency to lie. Isaac tried the same, "She is my sister" routine that his dad tried. Jacob was born "Grasping the heel" of his brother, Esau, and was known as a deceiver until God changed his name to Israel. He is known for swindling Esau into selling him his double-portion birthright for a pot of stew. He later conspires with his mom to steal Isaac's deathbed blessing from Esau as well!
Almost sounds like a Hollywood TV drama! I'm blessed and encouraged to see God working in the midst of all this. These guys changed their world, walked by faith, wrestled with God, and prevailed. They are the forefathers of God's chosen people and examples to us all. God uses normal people, warts included.
So don't delay! Seek His Face. Trust His Word. Obey His Voice. Strive to stay away from foolish decisions and sinful habits. Cry out to God for both forgiveness and transformation. Refuse to give in to depression or despair. Hold fast to all the promises of God, and one day, you too, will be used as a testimony of God's greatness. God be with you all...
